Biography

A professional writer for 20+ years, Samantha has edited her way across the B2B technology landscape. Keeper of the style guide, champion of the serial comma, she's a word nerd of the highest order. From her desk in Toronto, Canada, she helps writers of all experience levels sound and read "more gooder." (Something one of my clients said to me once as a joke.)

Previous experience, degrees, and qualifications

- 20+ years as a professional writer (technical writer & copywriter) in the B2B technology industry.
- 20+ as an unofficial editor to scores of technical writers, copywriters, and content writers.
- BAH in French & Italian Literature (though I don't edit in those languages, just English).

Interests and hobbies

- Reading sci-fi, dystopian, and mystery novels.
- Watching sports (on TV or live) like hockey, tennis, football, soccer, Olympics.
- Worked as a professional tennis line umpire, but I don't do that anymore. I still like to watch all the officials when I'm watching sports to see how their jobs work since each sport is so different.
- Craft beers (mostly drinking, but also reading about.)
- TV criticism
- Watching TV & movies (mostly dramas, sci-fi, and mysteries.)
- Knitting, crocheting, and other crafty hobbies.

How I'd describe my personality in two sentences

My personality is loud, talkative, confident, adventurous, gregarious, adaptable, sincere, and truthful. I am loyal to those closest to me, and will always tell you the truth (unless I'm playing poker; in which case, I'll bluff 80% of the time.)

How I'd describe my approach to my work

I tend to approach work in phases. Each phase is for different types of work, like only copyediting, only checking for punctuation, only outlining, etc. That way, I'm able to keep things organized and on schedule.

Why should you choose me for your project

I am a true word nerd and love helping other writers polish their work so that their ideas shine through. Nobody should be held back by a typo or incorrect punctuation. You handle the ideas part and I'll make sure it looks and reads great.
