Biography

"Writing is art - frame it."

My writing grew up on the scientific method. As a biology undergrad, I was the leader of every group project and lab report to ensure that our final research was written in a singular voice and style. My most influential professor was also the editor of an academic journal who gave me a -82% on the first assignment, marked off for every detail. This experience cemented in me that a reader can't get to the content if they can't get through the format.

That lesson carried me through grad school, twice. First, studying anthropology and cognitive science, writing short stories for term papers. For my Ethnographic Research Methods class, I studied my peers and wrote an ethnography - The Intentions and Actions of Applied Anthropologists. In our last class, I handed out the printed and bound copies I had created for them, and I knew my next stop was the publishing industry.

For my MFA in Creative Nonfiction, I interned with an indie publisher, the Santa Fe Writers Group. I learned how to organize, write, edit, proofread, publish, and market nonfiction titles. Meanwhile, I wrote several of my own, two for the National Write a Novel Month challenge, one for my life-coaching business, and one for my thesis memoir. This experience gave me the confidence to help others write, edit, proofread, and publish their nonfiction titles. Then, I helped them develop, create, and implement marketing strategies to accompany local speaking engagements, for which I edited their presentations and speeches.

My passion is turning words into writing. I believe my diverse experience and overall disposition would serve your project well. I value time and do not waste it. My work ethic is powerful, and if given the chance, I would work to my fullest potential, collaborating with with you to bring this story to life.
