Hi, there!

Seems you've stumbled upon my Urban Writers editing profile! My name's Elaine, and I'm a graduate of Western University with a Bachelor's degree in English and an Honors Specialization in Creative Writing. As a lifelong hobbyist writer and aspiring speculative fiction novelist, I have years of experience editing for myself and friends as well as formal training in editing a variety of genres. I also love reading, classical music, languages, and puppy pictures. My favorite book is Crime and Punishment by Fyodor Dostoevsky.

Previous experience, degrees, and qualifications

- Graduate of University of Western Ontario with a bachelor's degree in English with an honor's specialization in creative writing (2019-2022)
- Winner of the 2019 Avie Bennett prize in Canadian Literature
- My creative nonfiction work has been published in the UWO Occasus student magazine.
- Level B1 DELF French language proficiency
- Currently enrolled in the publishing certificate program at TMU, where I have been training in copyediting (May 2022-present)

Interests and hobbies

As an aspiring novelist, quite a lot of my time is taken up by reading and writing. I've loved reading since childhood and try to read in as many genres as I can. This has branched off into a love of history and languages: I have working knowledge of French, Russian, Greek, Hebrew, and Danish. I also love biking, classical music, watching movies, and my dog.

Local writing nerd found buried in a pile of books and manuscripts. Her puppy is very concerned.

How I'd describe my approach to my work

I'm a very careful worker who likes to make sure all details of a project have been overviewed and tweaked as needed.
