Biography
Wren Kingsley graduated in 2009 with a graphic design degree in Communication Art & Design. She loves photomanipulation and finds the best way to incorporate this love is through designing book covers. She has been designing book covers since 2017 but has been doing photo manipulation since 2004. Wren also enjoys the technical side of being creative and formats book interiors and is looking to offer this service through TUW.
Wren values working with her customers on a personal level and strives to turn her customer's vision into reality. She loves putting a smile on people's faces and will work hard to accomplish that. The book genres she specializes in are romance and fantasy. But she will tackle any fiction genre. Although she doesn't have a lot of experience in non-fiction, the book covers she has designed in the non-fiction categories have turned out splendid, with happy customers.
Wren is a single mom of two and also a dog momma. She enjoys photography, reading, writing (she published her first novel in May 2023), movies, the outdoors, and spending time with family and friends.
Books Wren has enjoyed reading: Maksed, by M Greenhill, The Lost Redeemer, by David Musk, Someone Like You, by Pax Sinclair, and The Little White Horse, by Elizabeth Goudge
Previous experience, degrees, and qualifications
I graduated in 2009 with a graphic design degree in Communication Art & Design. I have been designing book covers since 2017, but have been doing photo manipulation since 2004. I also have worked in a photography studio. What does that have to do with anything, you ask? Well, working in a photography studio, you learn more about how colors work and how they affect each other. For example, if you have a very yellow picture, (which often happens with pictures we take on our phones, or in rooms with incandescent lighting), I can simply open up the image in a photo editing software and if I add some blue to the image, the yellow will change to white/cream.
Interests and hobbies
I have a lot of interests, now that I am a mom. For you moms out there, you know what I mean. I am taking an interest in the things my kids like to do and an interest in things that I would like them to have the chance to experience. With that said, I do enjoy photography, traveling, reading, writing (I'm a newly published author), relaxing and watching movies, playing outside, and spending time with family and friends.
How I'd describe my personality in two sentences
I am a creative individual who values integrity and being dependable. I am an optimistic person who tries to make her customers smile.
How I'd describe my approach to my work
I view communication as a very important part of how I approach my work. I want to know what your vision is. If it is something I can't completely create/design for you, I will do my best to find alternatives. Or, if I believe your vision will make your cover too busy or won't be appealing to your target audience, I will voice my concern with a solution.
I will first need the technical specifics of your book. Such as the trim size, page count (which this can be edited if your book is currently being formatted/edited), book title, author name, book blurb, if your book has a subtitle, or a tagline, or is part of a series. Maybe you have a book series logo you would like to include, an author logo, publishing company logo.
Next, I will need any book cover inspirations you may have found, the genre of your book, your target audience, if you have any images you would like to use (please be sure you have a license or written permission to use the image(s)), and anything else you can think of that you would like me to know.
Knowing the genre of your book will help me to get a better idea of book covers that your target audience is attracted to. I will do research on this, so I can design an appropriate cover for your book.
Depending on the package you purchase, will determine how many concepts I provide for you. From there, if there are any edits you would like me to make, please let me know. The edits will be counted as revisions unless you inform me of these edits while I am designing the concept for you. If you wish to see my progress during the concept stage, please let me know. During the concept stage, any edits will not count toward your revisions.
Once you have shared with me your edits and I have completed the edits as requested, you will be asked to approve your cover and then I will upload your files for you. You will be able to request changes after the cover is approved at an extra charge and depending on my availability to complete the requested revision.
Why should you choose me for your project
You should choose me because I am customer driven. My customers and their vision are my number one priority. I have 18 years of customer service experience and I would not be in a customer-driven industry if I did not love it. I have also been designing since 2003, and am continually learning and expanding my knowledge. I would love to work with you on your next book cover project, and future projects as well. You won't be disappointed. Girl Scout honor.
