Editor / Formatter / Book Lover / Word Nerd
Biography
Hello! I'm an experienced and detail-oriented editor with an insatiable love for words. I've been reading and writing my whole life, and I recently obtained a Publishing Certificate through Toronto Metropolitan University. With my education and experience, I can confidently edit text in a variety of genres and help bring a writer's vision to life.
When I'm not reading and writing, I love to bake, play video games, and go for long walks with my dog.
Whatever your needs are for your project, I'd love to be a part of it. Let's work together to create something you're proud of.
Previous experience, degrees, and qualifications
Publishing Certificate (2023)
The Chang School of Continuing Education
Bachelor of Science -- Psychology, Physiology, Writing (2019)
University of Toronto
I have experience editing a variety of texts, including academic journals (psychology and life sciences), blog posts, newsletters, and nonfiction manuscripts. I'm an active member of Editors Canada and the Editorial Freelancers Association (EFA). I have edited the following genres:
- Psychology & Self-Help
- Spirituality
- Crafts & Hobbies
- Recipes & Cookbooks
- Sports
- Fiction
Interests and hobbies
I love reading (obviously), baking, playing video games, walking by the lake, and hanging out with my dog. I will read and learn just about anything. My favourite writers are Cheryl Strayed, Mary Oliver, Annie Dillard, Esther Perel, Stephen King, Lauren Groff, and Chuck Palahniuk.
How I'd describe my personality in two sentences
I'm friendly and artistic, and I strive to make the most out of each and every day. Although I'm an introvert at heart, I love making connections with other people and expressing myself creatively.
How I'd describe my approach to my work
I always want to be proud of the work I do. I love helping others realize their potential through writing, and I have immense respect for every writer that is brave enough to put their work into the world. As an editor, I'm not here to tinker with sentences and suit them to my preferences; it is my job to polish a piece of writing and ensure it meets professional standards without taking away from the writer's true voice.
Why should you choose me for your project
I'm reliable, enthusiastic, and highly attentive to detail. The job will get done with diligence and great care. Your success is my success!
