Freelance Writer/Copy Editor/Contributing Writer (October 2017-Present)
Working from my home office, I do freelance writing and editing as requested for Green Living. I have written news and feature articles as assigned for a variety of monthly magazines and weekly newspapers. Published articles are in Bluffton Monthly (Bluffton, SC), South (Savannah, GA), Bryan County Now (Savannah, GA), Green Living (Scottsdale, AZ), and Maricopa Monitor (Maricopa, AZ). Skills include attending meetings and events, researching, interviewing, photography, reporting, writing, and formatting.

Interests and hobbies

I'm a dog and cat person. Don't currently have a cat because my husband is allergic to them. But we are dog parents to a beagle rescue named Fred. He just turned 5. He loves to go for walks and sleep in our bed.
I speak fluent Dog. I had a lot of practice with our previous dog, Lucky, a lab/rott mix who lived to almost 14. Before Lucky we had Augie-Doggie, a lab/shepherd mix who lived to 10. Both dogs talked to me and I answered back. Fred just does the beagle howl, but he understands, "Want yum-yum?" and "Go for walk?"
Besides dogs, I love watching MLB baseball and NHL hockey, going to live plays and concerts, traveling, going to the beach, watching old movies, and reading good books.

How I'd describe my personality in two sentences

I'm pretty funny (I think). I'm well read, attentive, curious, empathic, gregarious, and a good listener.

How I'd describe my approach to my work

I read everything very carefully. I look at the whole text try to find errors in spelling, grammar, word choice, syntax, and subject-verb agreement. I look up terms I don't know or am not sure of. I keep the deadline in mind and work toward that goal -- trying to meet or beat it, but also do careful work. It's not a race. While it's nice to beat a deadline by a couple of days, I will never rush through a project to beat someone else. I always strive to do my best. I communicate with the client to deliver what he/she wants when he/she wants it.
I'm very conscientious of time and money management. I work when I'm supposed to and will let a team member or supervisor or the client know when I'm away from my home office (although I always have my cell phone with me.)
You can depend on me. I am always at the place or doing the task I'm supposed to.

I am reliable, dependable, knowledgeable, and always willing to learn. If I don't know something, I will research or ask the client questions. I am deadline driven and strive to give you a quality product when you want it.
