“The Voice so sweet, the words so fair” (Ben Jonson) – British, Female
Biography
An eclectic mix – I think that about sums me up.
British by birth, I have lived in France for over 20 years and before that spent a little time in Russia. I have worked as a translator, a teacher, a tour guide, in financial services, as an interior designer and even as a maker and purveyor of paper flowers.
Things that interest me – books, of course, and people. I am riveted by languages, history and creativity; spend as much time as I can in my garden, take enormous pleasure in walking and swimming.
To put a little more flesh on the bones (my husband’s rather splendid cooking does that also) I have two daughters and am now the shortest family member apart from the cat…and the only lefthander.
Previous experience, degrees, and qualifications
- Degree in French and Russian from Exeter University, UK
- Diploma of Higher Education in Interior Design, London Metropolitan University, UK
- Financial services qualifications (APMI, AFPC)
- TEFL diploma
- Guildhall speech and drama grades 1 – 8
I have run my own business for the last 13 years but have previously worked in a wide variety of fields including translation, teaching, financial services, and interior design.
Interests and hobbies
I love reading and listening to audiobooks. The creative “me” adores gardening and trying out a wide range of arts and crafts. History and languages feed my intellectual side. My designer’s eye strays to buildings and cities. Walking and swimming keep me fit. Food is a guilty but very great pleasure.
How I'd describe my personality in two sentences
I am a smiley person, enthusiastic, and affable. Pragmatic and patient, I am loyal and have a sense of humour.
How I'd describe my approach to my work
My approach to work is methodical and conscientious with attention to detail. I consider myself to be tenacious, proactive, and reactive. I record into a Shure SM7dB through a Focusrite Scarlett Solo 4th Gen. I have a dedicated room in my home for a studio.
Why should you choose me for your project
There was a girl from Toulouse,
Who wanted the writers to choose
Her voice for their book,
By hook or by crook,
So go on, you’ve nothing to lose.
I am confident in the assertion that my reading is better than my poetry.

Lottie has done a wonderful job narrating my audiobook, perfectly matching the romantic tone of my book. She even made small adjustments to the text to ensure it sounded more natural in the audiobook format compared to the ebook version. I also loved how she used different voices for the dialogue, making the listening experience even more engaging. I highly recommend her, and I truly hope this project is a success so I can work with Lottie again on the next one!

Lottie brought my manuscript to life beautifully. Being multi-lingual was such an advantage because it brought authenticity to the reading and Lottie worked and communicated often to ensure difficult pronunciation was correct. I really appreciated this, and it made such a difference to the finished narration. I will definitely work with Lottie again, thank you.

Lottie did a great job. Quality of sound was excellent, the narration was top quality. There were a lot of scientific and medical terms which Lottie got 90% right on first go. Her tone and phrasing was appropriate and she suffused it with the right energy for this non-fiction work. Would definitely use her again for narration.
