Biography

Hi! I'm Iris--an experienced editor who is dedicated to the literary world and all it has to offer. Growing up, I fostered a passion for writing, and this love transcended to a desire to help other authors and writers with the growth and development of their projects. Fiction is at the heart of everything I do, but my attachment to reading has allowed me to branch out and find joy in just about every type of writing, including nonfiction works and academic writings. In the end, my main goal is to help in making a piece of writing be as powerful as possible, as I'm well aware of the impact that language can have on people.

I look forward to working with writers from all walks of life, and I can only hope that my editing expertise helps to shape something wonderful 🥰 💌 🌷

Previous experience, degrees, and qualifications

I have a Bachelor of Arts degree in Literatures in English with a concentration in Creative Writing from Bryn Mawr College. I have over three years of experience with professional editing, and I've worked with both fiction and nonfiction authors across multiple genres, including fantasy, sci-fi, romance, mystery, paranormal, memoirs, self-help guides, and more! I also have academic editing experience, editing journals, articles, and student work. Outside of editing, I've also done proofreading, beta reading, tutoring, grading, and content writing, and--at heart--I'm a fiction writer myself.

Interests and hobbies

I love all things literary! I'm an avid reader, writer, and consumer of all media types, including TV shows, movies, books, games, and music. I love the horror and fantasy genres, and I'm also a big fan of sitcoms and comedy TV shows. For games, I enjoy just about all types, whether action, fantasy, cozy, or exploration. When I'm not editing or doing freelance work, I'm usually lost in some fictional world.

How I'd describe my personality in two sentences

I'm passionate about my interests and dedicated to working my passions into my career. I find enjoyment in the smaller things in life, and I'm often someone who gets lost in my own emotions.

How I'd describe my approach to my work

When editing, I approach my work with the amount of interest that I would dedicate to my own hobbies; writing and reading are my first loves, after all, so being able to apply these to my work naturally make the process more enjoyable. I always place the customer's/client's satisfaction first, so I'm dedicated to ensuring that my work reflects my eagerness to assist in the editing process and my love for language. I treat each project with integrity and bestow upon it the attention it deserves to turn into its best self.

My wide range of experience and education have allowed me to be versatile with my editing, as I'm aware of just about every genre convention and the tips and tricks for editing different types of writing. I'm flexible and can meet any necessary guidelines and deadlines, and I'm always excited to dive into a new project. Overall, I know the importance of having a polished final product, and I'm so thankful that I can be part of the process and help shape all types of writing.
