Biography
Hi, everyone! I'm Clementine Webb, and I am a writer, editor, and proofreader. As an editor, I love wading through written words, whipping each unruly comma and em dash into shape, and creating a beautiful, polished masterpiece. I am autistic, and I like to think that helps me spot the tiny details that others miss.
I just graduated with my MFA in Popular Fiction Writing & Publishing from Emerson College!
Here are some life experiences I have that help inform my work:
- I have a BA in English and Psychology (double major) and a master's degree in Applied Behavior Analysis & Autism.
- I have worked for over a decade with autistic/otherwise neurodivergent children, teens, and young adults, providing services to build communication and life skills.
- I grew up a household where murder and crime were typical dinner-table topics! My father is a criminal defense attorney and my mother is a mitigation specialist. I have worked for them off and on for years, handling case files as well as attending trials and participating in jail/prison interviews.
- I am a disability and neurodiversity advocate, and I manage an online community of a few thousand people working to dismantle ableism in health care settings.
In my daily life, I love to read, write, watch true crime documentaries, and organize my office supplies. Post-it notes and sparkly notebooks are my weaknesses!
Previous experience, degrees, and qualifications
I have an MFA in Popular Fiction Writing & Publishing, a BA in English and Psychology, an ACES Certificate in Editing, and a Master's degree in a psychology-related field.
I worked with children, teens, and young adults with autism and other disabilities for over a decade. I also worked in my university's Writing Center as a tutor during my undergraduate years. My mother and father both work in the criminal defense field, so I grew up listening to stories about criminals and murder.
Interests and hobbies
I love to write, read romance and paranormal/urban fantasy novels, watch true crime documentaries, and organize my office supplies. I love office supplies!!
How I'd describe my personality in two sentences
I am firm but kind. I love helping people, and I am driven to do the best job I can.
How I'd describe my approach to my work
I approach each author's work as I would my own, being careful to preserve the author's unique voice. I usually fan-girl over characters in fiction projects, and I enjoy learning new information in non-fiction!
