Biography

Hi!
I'm Lila, and I work as a freelance science editor.
I have a Ph.D. in Biology and five years of academic experience, including research and teaching.
After getting my Ph.D., I decided to take a break and travel around the world. That was an enriching experience, and it gave me the time and tranquility of mind to think about what I wanted to do with my life.
I am now a fulfilled academic editor. I love words. I love writing and reading, and I enjoy correcting other people's writing!
I am also a certified 200-hour Hatha Yoga instructor. My yoga practice has changed the person I am. It taught me how to take my time and make better decisions in life.
I am looking forward to helping you with your next writing project:)

Previous experience, degrees, and qualifications

• Ph.D. in Plant Biology
• 5 years in academic research, including writing, editing, and proofreading scientific content
• 3 years of teaching experience
• 200-hours certified Hatha Vinyasa yoga instructor

Interests and hobbies

• Writing - mostly creative non-fiction
• Reading - classics and contemporary literature. My favorite authors include: E. Ferrante, F. Backman, F. Dostoïesvki, S. Zweig, Khaled Hosseini, etc.
• Yoga
• Roller skating
• Movies - big fan of South korean cinema (Park Chan-Wook, Hong Sang-Soo, Bong Joon-Ho, etc.). Huge Charlie Chaplin fan! I also love Japanese animation movies.
• Food! I don't cook but I love discovering new food and beverages;)

How I'd describe my personality in two sentences

I'm a social introvert.
I love meeting new people and hearing about different life styles, but I need to be alone most of the time, to recharge my batteries.

How I'd describe my approach to my work

I'm a grammar nerd! I sometimes leaf through the Chicago Style and APA manuals just for fun (yes, seriously!)
Having a job I'm passionate about, and skilled at, makes me want to offer my best, whatever the project is.
Even though I sometimes work on several projects simultaneously, I always respect deadlines and am always available for questions.
I need to be able to communicate easily with the main authors of the texts I'm editing:)
