Biography
Hello! Thank you so much for checking out my profile. My name is Kaci, and I'm so excited for the opportunity to work on your order!
I have a Bachelor of Arts in English with a Concentration in Secondary Education and recently made a career change from teaching to editing. I loved teaching writing almost as much as I love writing itself. As a teacher, I got to dive deeply into concepts and strategies for how to craft the most effective and engaging pieces of writing and am therefore very familiar and comfortable with all phases of the writing process. Though I love composing, my talents lie in editing. I have meticulous attention to detail and deep knowledge of correct usage, spelling, punctuation, and grammar, and I can spot an error immediately. I can quickly identify areas for improvement and make corrections or suggestions in order to meet and exceed expectations for a written piece. I love polishing and perfecting a piece of writing as I support the writer in developing and enhancing their content.
My love for writing and editing grew from a lifelong love for reading! I particularly enjoy reading all kinds of fiction, especially mysteries and thrillers; some of my favorite books right now are the Cormoran Strike series by Robert Galbraith, and I recently tore through None of This Is True by Lisa Jewell and Pretty Girls by Karin Slaughter. I also enjoy biographies and memoirs--a few of my favorites are Educated by Tara Westover and Night by Elie Wiesel. My all-time favorite books are Freak the Mighty by Rodman Philbrick and The Great Gatsby by F. Scott Fitzgerald.
When I'm not spending time with the written word, I spend as much time with my family and friends as I can. I love going on fun outings with my daughter and husband and finding new and exciting things to do as a family. I enjoy yoga and dabble in crafting here and there, and I have been spending more and more time taking care of my growing collection of houseplants. At home, I enjoy watching true crime documentaries, sitcoms, and sports, especially football, hockey, and basketball. When I can, I like to get up to the mountains to hike, fish, or just relax!
I'm a professional, efficient editor capable of meeting deadlines, communicating clearly, and adhering to specific requirements of a project. I very much look forward to seeing how I can help bring your book to the finish line!
~Kaci
Previous experience, degrees, and qualifications
I have a bachelor's degree in English with a concentration in Secondary Education and taught secondary English Language Arts for nine years.
Interests and hobbies
I love reading, taking walks, dancing, doing yoga, taking care of my plants, playing board and card games, hanging out with my pets, and watching sports, especially football, basketball, and hockey. Most of all, I love spending time with my family!
How I'd describe my personality in two sentences
I'm outgoing and friendly; I love meeting new people and gaining new experiences. I'm also introspective and independent, and I like to spend quiet time at home reading and watching my favorite tv shows.
How I'd describe my approach to my work
I take my role as an editor seriously and am passionate about producing high-quality writing. I want every piece of writing I work on to be as cohesive, clear, compelling, and, of course, error-free as possible.
Why should you choose me for your project
You should choose me for your project because I will ensure your intended message is appropriate for your intended audience. I will clean up grammar, punctuation, spelling, word choice, sentence structure, and more, and I will put in the time and effort your book deserves. I will do my best to help you realize your vision for your book.
