Hi! My name is Ella (she/her). I am a freelance editor with over seven years of experience working with successful writers. I have exceptional writing skills, extensive editing experience with short-form and long-form, a passion for literature and analyzing texts, and I can prioritize my editing strategy for efficiency and effectiveness.

Previous experience, degrees, and qualifications

I have over 7 years of experience working with successful writers and have edited hundreds of short-form and long-form projects. I am an active member of various writing and editing communities. I earned Editor of the Year for a company in 2019. I also hold a certificate as an Online Counseling and Suicide Intervention Specialist (OCSIS), issued by the QPR Institute in 2010.

Interests and hobbies

I am an introvert who enjoys naps, reading, gaming, listening to music, cuddling with my cat, and playing with my basset hound.

My personality is a unique combination of qualities that define me as an organized creative. I pride myself on being empathetic, inquisitive, attentive, reliable, genuine, and logical.

How I'd describe my approach to my work

Mutual, open communication, responsiveness, and respect are essential to a positive working relationship. I prefer to work in partnership with writers. I aim to help them perfect their writing by providing suggestions and corrections. I also welcome opportunities to answer any questions writers have about suggestions or corrections. It’s important to me to provide a safe space when asking others to share their creative energy and resolve any difficulties preventing them from receiving the compassionate and thoughtful editing experience they deserve. I am open to modifying my editing process to accommodate chronic illness, disability, or other significant barriers, and I’m happy to discuss helpful solutions.
