Biography

When I was 5 years old, I stood on stage at my school and read a story book aloud to all the other first graders. Later that same year, at awards evening at school, I won the award for best reader.

My name is Hana and the story above might have seemed super random, but I added it to give you a bit of an idea of how long I've loved reading books. I may have come a long way from Aladdin and The Little Mermaid since then, but I still possess that same love of literature from my childhood.

Soon, that love of reading turned into a love of writing as well. I wanted to write my own stories that someone else could love. Since then, I've written all kinds of stories, with all kinds of themes and genres, but my favorite books to write are easily ones with heavy romance, drama, and/or mystery themes.

On top of writing fiction, since I started working here at The Urban Writers, I've also developed a love for writing non-fiction, specifically self-help books with a focus on mental health. I know, self-help books can get a bad rap sometimes, but I have good personal experiences with them, so I like the idea that, the way they've helped me, my books can help someone else too.

Although I do have preferences, I write pretty much anything, really. I'm always up for learning about things that I may not know much about, and turning my new knowledge into a well written book, so throw anything at me and I'll adapt.

Previous experience, degrees, and qualifications

I have loved writing for as long as I can remember and have written casually for online communities for many years. I joined The Urban Writers in 2021 and have since professionally written many books on mental health, physical health, grief, diets, and even gardening, to name a few.

Interests and hobbies

My absolute favorite pastime is to put on some music, grab my tablet, and draw whatever my imagination conjures up. Apart from that, I love doing anything that allows me to be creative. Makeup, dancing, cooking, baking, interior designing, painting, and, of course, writing are all things that I am in my element doing.

How I'd describe my personality in two sentences

I'm very calm and laid back, not a cold, solid rock by any means, but it does take a lot to shake me. My best quality, in my opinion, is that I am an exceptionally good listener, not only in casual situations, but I also listen well to suggestions and constructive criticism.

How I'd describe my approach to my work

I like to understand things fully before I write, so I always do the research, then write my own detailed outline (based on the outline given) before writing the final product. I feel that by doing that, I have more structure, and I get the opportunity to go over everything twice to make sure that it is up to my standards. Since this is how I like to write, the first run-through of a chapter might feel disconnected and poorly written, but that's just me placing all the information down before going back and writing it out properly. I can assure you that the end product will be written well.

Why should you choose me for your project

I have such a deep passion for self-help books, especially those focusing on mental health, because similar self-help books have helped me out personally in the past. I often imagine what my life would have been like if I hadn't read those books, and subsequently think about the people out there who could also benefit from them. I know it sounds cheesy, but I really do enjoy writing self-help books because I like the idea of them helping people.
