Biography

“My father used to say that stories are part of the most precious heritage of mankind.”
- Tahir Shah, In Arabian Nights: A Caravan of Moroccan Dreams

My name is Avery, and for most of my life, I've been enchanted by worlds that only exist in the minds of writers. Obsessed with the delicate art of bleeding life unto a page, from the vein of inspiration and dreams. For what is more human than make-believe? What is more human than sharing stories of old around a campfire or a dinner table?

My fascination with stories began early on in my life, instilled in me from a childhood spent laying side by side with my mother as she read from J.K Rowling's Harry Potter series or J. R. R. Tolkien's The Hobbit. I'd spend hours trying to write my own grand stories by hand in the loose pages of my school notebooks; Only to go back to reread my work and find my handwriting was atrocious chicken scratch. But as soon as I was old enough to be allowed on the family computer, nothing short of divine intervention could keep me from writing!

I am enamored with many topics of writing, but some of my favorites include:

-Adult
-Young Adult
-Children
-Adventure Fantasy
-Comedy
-Fantasy
-Horror
-Lost World Fantasy
-Nautical Fiction
-Romance
-Science Fiction
-Space Opera
-Space Western
-Superhero Fantasy
-Thriller

Fiction writing feeds the soul, but what about your mind? Sometimes fact is stranger than fiction, and nonfiction's captured much of my interest too! You may find me writing about nonfiction topics, such as:

-Biographical Writing
-Cooking
-Creative Nonfiction
-Greek Mythology
-History
-Journalistic Writing
-Mesoamerican Mythology
-Pet Care

Snippet from The Maw

Late evening wasn't always the best time to take pictures, but it was the only time Umberwing butterflies came out. I'm a photographer, not a biologist, but the life of a photographer often requires one to step up and do a little research. It took me three hours of laying by the lakeside on my belly, camera at the ready, to finally get the perfect shot of an Umberwing sipping from the red waters of Lake Rubient. I even got a short video of how the water courses through the veins in its translucent wings, filling them with color. "There's a paying shot." I hummed to myself, adjusting the...

Snippet from Art and Law

The silence stagnants into a breathless moment, the whirl of computer cooling fans kicking on. The chugging of the hard drive thumped so hard that she could feel it through the keyboard beneath her fingers. For a moment, Noelle can only watch the black screen of the monitor, waiting for something- anything- to happen. Her answer doesn’t come from the screens though. Behind her, the hydraulic cylinders hiss from the pods, and the doors peel back. Alexis is the first one to sit up, clutching his head and blinking blearily up at Noelle. “I take it we lost?” He asks, just as Noelle hops...
