Biography

Robin Shriver is a freelance writer for The Urban Writers. Her love of reading started at age three or four and eventually bloomed into an English Language & Literature degree in adulthood. In all forms of her freelance writing she strives to write material she would love to read. She considers herself a flexible and friendly collaborator who is willing to take on board and work through any suggestions or critiques so as to produce the best work possible.

She is a fast learner, adaptable and a seasoned connoisseur of a diverse range of books.

She is experienced in writing Fiction of all genres, including but not limited to: Fantasy, contemporary, romance, YA and NA and PNR.

Previous experience, degrees, and qualifications

I have a triple BA in English Language & Literature, Media & Writing and Linguistics. I am currently pursuing postgraduate studies in Linguistics.

I have completed ghostwriting projects of both fiction and non-fiction categories.

Interests and hobbies

I am a bone fide bookworm, and fortunately for me, my love of writing has proven to be one way of supporting my addiction. I love fiction of all genres but my favorite is definitely Fantasy. If I'm not reading about faraway worlds and daring quests, I can usually be found playing them on any console.

I have a pipe dream of being a polyglot and am making decent progress (if you qualify being able to ask for water in four languages as progress).

I love playing acoustic guitar, taking Krav Maga glasses and camping just far enough out of the city to call it "camping".

How I'd describe my personality in two sentences

I am a highly-motivated perfectionist. I am perpetually curious.

How I'd describe my approach to my work

I like to start my approach to any project by ensuring that I've understood the client's vision for the final product. Once I'm sure I've done that, I work on using my skills to translate their voice, brand and goals into the written word and produce a high quality book that has met their requirements.

Why should you choose me for your project

I was a voracious reader before I was a writer, and it's my love of reading that is heavily infused into my work ethic and writing. I like to think of myself as both a producer and consumer, so that I create print that will be enjoyed by readers as well. I also like to think of myself as a friendly person who works well collaboratively.

I have a genuine passion to help people write the book of their dreams and to watch that hard work come into fruition.

A Perfect Mask

The perimeter had already been determined and blocked off, with a security detail patrolling to make sure no one unauthorized would enter. The saltwater scent from the coast mingled with the smell of rusting metal and the mix was muted through the masks they wore but still pungent enough to register. Their junior team came to join them, and they spent a few minutes assigning each person to a different section. As the others combed over the foreground for any evidence, Heather noted the focal point of the scene -a dinghy boat bobbing at the end of one of the jetties. She jerked her h...

The Heart of War

Focus. The word resounded through Elizabeth Beckett’s racing mind, loud as a pealing bell. She hadn’t quite mastered her nerves, although she tried her best to maintain a mask of professionalism every time some poor soldier half-blown to hell was wheeled in before her. When she’d first started eleven months ago, the biggest aversion she’d held was seeing a completely naked man without blushing. Now it was the exposed bone and innards, peeling flesh and mangled limbs that rattled her. Despite the initial shock of horror and nausea at the stark realities of war, she’d surprised herself ...

King of Bastards

"See, Klaus? This is what happens to traitors who seize power they cannot wield." The weathered parchment slowly caught fire in my hands, hungry flames licking up the royal seal. "My sight hasn't been that keen for a good number of years." Klaus, my blind Shadesinger and faithful stalwart tilted his head. But I knew he sensed it. We'd been blood-bound for a decade now. He'd helped me hone my raw ability into intricate skill, a feat as seemingly insurmountable as hewing granite from clay. Faithful friends are rare for a royal exile. Brothers born for ruin and rule even rarer. "Loo...

Dark Rite

Was he dead? He should be dead. That was the only coherent thought he had while everything else churned about in his mind like a tempest. Slowly, he began to take in the world around him. He was laying on his back in the middle of a patrol route, the labyrinth of eerie trees on either side marking the path. It was night and the dark sky was robbed of its stars by swathes of clouds. He was so cold he felt numb, unable to move his limbs to warm himself. Then it struck. The copper scent of blood rent the air, strong and suffocating. His eyes darted around until he...
