Writer at The Urban Writers since 2023 who takes great pride in bringing books to life with well-researched work.

Biography

I currently reside about 30 minutes outside of Cape Town, South Africa. I have been working as a writer on The Urban Writer since October 2023 and focus primarily on books related to history, sport, health and fitness, self help, and entertainment. My previous writing experience stems mostly from writing my running club's weekly newsletter since 2017.

I lead a very active lifestyle, enjoying long distance running, hiking, padel, golf and occasionally other sports. I also enjoy following just about all other sports (football/soccer, rugby, cricket, tennis, NFL, golf, formula one and athletics).

I also enjoy reading, quiz night competitions, gardening, cooking, wine and beer tasting, following world events (particularly in the field of economics, politics, and scientific/engineering breakthroughs), good news stories and NGO/NPO work, documentaries and movies.

How I'd describe my personality in two sentences

I would describe myself as patient, socially conscious, proud, caring and attentive. Always looking to get involved and add value to any organisation or project I find myself a part of.

How I'd describe my approach to my work

I believe my DISC report captures my approach to work perfectly:
Fact Finder
Fact-finders bring a keen sense of quality control and detail orientation to the projects in which they engage. Like a
detective, they work at the intersection of facts, logic, and intuition. They do their homework and come prepared
with background knowledge and information. They appreciate it when others do the same. They may be quiet and
build respect for others when they recognize equally high quality control interest. Data, facts, and logic drive their
decision-making.

Why should you choose me for your project

If you want someone who has a perfect sense of what the target audience desires, I believe I'm a good candidate. Always looking to back up statements with hard facts, yet am also more than capable of creating a desired direction.

UNPLUG YOURSELF

Throughout the annals of time, for as long as we have been humans (as we know it), there has been a yearning and wanting for a better way of life. This has, more often than not, involved wanting more for ourselves. It is, at our core and in an evolutionary sense, what makes us human. It was this same yearning that led the earliest humans to explore beyond Africa and, eventually, populate every corner of the globe. It was this very same yearning that resulted in every great technological leap we’ve ever made. From the survival of the fittest philosophy that has been drummed into every educa...

Chair Exercises for Seniors

This book has sought to guide you on your journey to physical wellness—from finding your why and starting with the combination of healthy eating and exercising to staying motivated by establishing your routines to the point where they become habits. It should be noted in closing that this journey you are on is ever-evolving, and there is no end point, per se. I shared snippets of my own journey to wellness, and I can tell you that my goals are constantly changing, and as a result so are the exercises I do and the diet I eat. There has never been a eureka moment or a missing link in my jour...

Inspiring Soccer Stories for Young Sports Fans

As the teams took the field for the final in front of over 76,000 fans, Hamm scanned the stadium to find Garrett. She must have been thinking about all the lessons he taught her and all their memories created on the soccer field, and off the field. How Garrett had taught her to always go in hard to win the ball from the older boys she played against. How she should always keep the ball close to her feet at all times. How he taught her to always remain humble, and how he always encouraged her to seize every opportunity. This was her opportunity to say thank you. Hamm had a great match and w...

Family – Just another ‘F’ Word

In U.S. lore, there are not many family feuds as well-documented as that between the McCoy and Hatfield families. The two Appalachian mountain-dwelling families had a feud that became so famous that it has drawn nationwide attention since the 1880s and continues to be the subject of books, documentaries, and TV series. Both lived along the Tug Fork of the Big Sandy River on land now known as West Virginia. The McCoys were based on the Kentucky side, while the Hatfields were on the West Virginia side. Both families were in the business of selling wood and making moonshine (homemade alcohol)...

Uplifting Short Stories For Seniors

3. Horsing Around While others have claimed the story to star The Sultan of Bahrain, former French President Jacques Chirac has often laid claim to being the second lead in this anecdote (Gonzalez, 2022). The first was Queen Elizabeth II, someone who, rightfully so, was often viewed as the height of regality, prim, and properness. The Queen, her husband, Prince Philip, and President Chirac were all seated in the same horse-drawn carriage as they paraded through the streets. While taking in the sights and adulation of the crowds, the trio engaged in small talk. At one point in between the ...

Basketball Stories for Kids

The game clock is ticking away. "Ten. Nine..." You're dribbling down the court with your team two points behind. You look up and none of your teammates are open. "Six. Five..." You make the decision to go for the three-point shot yourself. You jump, and the ball leaves your hands. "Three. Two..." This scenario has almost certainly featured in your dreams at least once. Or maybe you've even practiced it time and time again with friends on the half-court. Do you know who else will have had this same dream and practiced this same scenario hundreds of times? Just about every player you've ever...
