Biography

Scottie Bob is a London Film School graduate, BAFTA Scholarship recipient and British Film Institute funded Screenwriter. He has a number of projects in development across the world and has co-written two published books. His work has placed highly in a number of competitions and schemes including being long-listed thrice by the BBC Writers Room. His films have played at film festivals across the UK including the highly reputable Aesthetica Short Film Festival. In 2022, he was part of the team that won “Best Film” at Soul Film Festival for his writing of BFI-backed Reflection.

Previous experience, degrees, and qualifications

I graduated from Essex University with a 1st Class Honours Degree and was later awarded a BAFTA Scholarship to fund my studies at the London Film School, where I'd achieve a master's degree in Screenwriting. I have written multi-award-winning films that have played at film festivals around the UK, have had two co-written books published and was part of a team awarded National Lottery funding via the British Film Institute. My writing has placed highly in a number of reputable screenwriting competitions including being long listed by the BBC Writers Room three times. In 2022, our short film "Reflection" won "best film" at Soul Film Festival.

Interests and hobbies

I am a football fanatic cinephile. Hobbies include long-walks, quality time with the kids and social time down the pub with friends. I'm also a big video gamer, particularly narrative driven epics. Film and TV wise, my preference is drama but I'm also very partial to a documentary, specifically those that get us thinking about a lifestyle or sub-culture we're not often exposed to. I'm always looking to learn and have spent many a night down an internet rabbit hole on subjects that had never crossed my mind! Lastly, I'm a big foodie and avid follower of the ketogenic diet.

How I'd describe my approach to my work

I am diligent in my research and approach each project from scratch regardless of any prior knowledge or bias. I see every project as an opportunity to become more knowledgeable in the chosen subject, however, will never apply for a project that I can't find passion in, doing so would be disingenuous and be doing a disservice to the client. I strongly believe in detailed outlining and having a clear blueprint before putting pen to paper (or fingers to keys). This keeps every project on track towards its original goal.

I can assure quick communication, a fast turn-around and a clear concise plan on what the final product will look like. I'm also very comfortable collaborating as much or as little as you would like, as well as being open to co-writing with others if at any point you feel that may be beneficial to your project. I'm laid back and easy going as a person, but hard-working and diligent as a writer.

Indy is now immortalized as the bullwhip cracking, fedora wearing, wise-cracking, explorer extraordinaire. However, the archaeologist turned iconic adventurer, Indiana Jones was initially conceived by George Lucas as a tribute to the heroes who he himself grew up watching in matinees from the 30’s, 40’s, and 50’s.
