Biography
Irish/Australian writer and English teacher livingi n the countryside of Sao Paulo, Brazil.
I write weird books. I teach weird English classes.
Today I am an artiist and English teacher by trade. Neither one was a pursuit. Often in life i confused windows for paintings and found myself diving into new countries with new people making new stories. In my youth in Perth, Australia, I was a singer in an extreme metal band. We toured the US in 2003 with a lot of hype, then endd up sued for half a million dollars by a deranged investor, and ended up living on the street. WHen this wrapped up, I moved to brazil to marry a girl I met on the internet after a conversation with a Swedish jugglar about how finite life was.
in Brazil, I started my life as an English teacher, then moved ot translations and language consultancy. I got paid a lot of money to teach executives how to speak with more pazazz. Around this time my writing career began with my first novel A Rising Fall. 12 years later, I have 24 pubslihed novels (dystopian, satire, black humour, sci-fi), two kids, four cats, three dogs, a healrhy career teaching ESL online to students around the world, and I run marathons because all of that doesn't make me anxious enough.

How I'd describe my personality in two sentences
I'm Irish / Australian, so I have the gifdt of the gab and a penchant for climbing gum trees, eating eucalyptus, and falling asleep.
Everyone I've ever met has laughed at least once, larned a little something, and i hope been better for the experience.
How I'd describe my approach to my work
I'm focused and dilligent. When i start a project, i lock in. Nothing else matters. I'm able to get a lot of quality work don in a shjort time.
I'm very pragmatic with working. I split freelancd writing between teaching English, raising my two kids, my endurance prusuits, and my personal writing (Sundays only between 07h10 - 10h50). I write fiction prolifically and always have a project under my wing. As each of my tasks is compartmentalised, i am able to give 100% focus to each one in the allocated time. Neither work spills inot the other.
I am results driven and proud of all the work I have done, be it a two hundred thousand word novel or a quick message to mum.
I love the play of words - the msuic that sits in the gaps of very sylable.
Why should you choose me for your project
My only focus is to make real what you imagine. I'm a writer, it's what I do. I'm averag at changing a light bulb and left in charge, I'll probably ruin the BBQ. But writing is my forte. I can work with literary fiction, science fiction, through to technical writing, science reporting, and I can even write a moving eulogy you envision, i will help to make into an objctive reality.
I am easy to work with, productive, dilligent, fast, and I don't cry too much with criticism - just the normal amount.

eN - Ficton Excerpt
"The computer can never be an artist, not until it doubts itself., not until it is so full of shame and regret, and not until that fetid shame is sprinkled with glittering hope and inspiration. Then, when it is lost, desolate, and still hopeful - when it is utterly confused - only then can it call itself an artist. A machine can’t be that way. So, walk away from it. Do not protest it. That which you protest, you merely give strength - by pushing against it, you prop it up, you stop it from falling over. Walk away, let it collapse under the weight of its own hubris. Let it lie in ruin - unse...
The Man in the Dress - Fiction Excerpt
There was The Batman, of course, a roguish anti-hero, driven by redemption of sorts, the vengeance that spawned from having been unable to save his mother and father. Whereas Bruce was the reserved, and maybe even craven, billionaire CEO to Wayne Industries, an empire he inherited from his father, The Batman was the antithesis to this impressionable and mute, silver-spooned heir. He was the iron fist to Bruce’s yellow belly. And then, of course, there was The Joker, a reviling figure capable of all kinds of no-good. He was as enigmatic and charming as he was deranged and unpredictable, a...
Mabel and Abel - FIction Excerpt
“I’m really excited,” he said. “You can probably tell.” It would be impossible not to. He had all the charm and merry whim of a child unwrapping a present. His joy was palpable. It was hard not to smile too. He hardly looked or sounded like a man who was ordering the contracted murder of his spouse. He could have just as easily been at a flower store, arranging the most sumptuous and resplendent bouquet. This was not lost on Angus. He had never seen such a display of genuine affection. Never before had he ever heard a man speak so glowingly about their wife. Never before had he seen it so...
Harrold with an E - Fiction Excerpt
“Who am I?” he wondered. “I’m about to find out.” His mirth, though, quickly soured as he watched the old lady’s face turn from peaceful and calm to an expression that was gangrenous and coarse, one that was shaped like a rude gesture. The family too, and the besotted lovers as well, their expressions were neither doting, joyful, nor impassioned. Theirs had turned, just as the old lady’s had, into ones of abhorrence, contempt, and offence. They all snarled, hissed, and jeered, and they stuck their tongues out at poor sweet Harrold before walking off in apparent disgust. Ashamed and full o...
Hidden Track - Fiction Excerpt
“What do you mean? You’re not Marjorie. You’re old.” “You too,” said The Old Lady. “We’re both old. I am Marjorie. And I didn’t tell you to nick off,” she said. “I told you to smarten up.” The Old Man’s face instantly softened. “Ha! You did,” he said. “You had a handful of comics and girly magazines. I told you that if you were going to talk to me, you’d best have something proper to say. Do you remember that?” The Old Man smiled. “I do,” he said. “And what did you do?” “I grabbed the first book that I could that wasn’t a comic.” “You were as charming then as you are now,” said The...
Tough Love - Alex and The Gruff epigraph
Infants never learn to soothe themselves to sleep. They learn, abandoned in seclusion, that no matter the volume of their despondence, no matter the force of their tears, when they are alone and frightened, no-one will ever come to their rescue. Infants do not soothe themselves. They merely surrender. And it is caged in their cribs where the infants learn, in the face of their demons, to remain silent and submitting.
The Alien - Ineffable excerpt
I once spent a weekend on Earth, With two men (of Science and God) One man convinced me I did not exist, And the other that I was a fraud. In both men I saw the same reason, In both men I saw the same light. So, I left for another dimension, Assuming that both men were right
