Biography
"I know nothing in the world that has as much power as a word. Sometimes I write one and look at it, until it begins to shine." - Emily Dickinson
My name is Alexis Cousins and I am a writer, forever inspired for my words to shine. I remember hearing the story of the Trojan Horse at age 8 and decided to rewrite it, with a few twists and turns on the way. I stapled it together - about four pages worth - and handed it to my mother. I guess she was my first fan. I grew up intending to write everything that popped into my head. I wanted to talk to people and tell their stories, what was wrong, what was right, and the characters that fidgeted in my head.
My approach to writing shifted to journalism when I studied for my four-year Honors degree with a specialization in writing and editing. I had the opportunity to write for the local newspaper at University, intern at media houses, and be given grand opportunities to meet amazing people and travel the world, writing about my experiences. There I got a look into proofreading, travel features, political courtroom news reports, sports and more.
I worked for a sports magazine after graduating and continued with my love for digging for stories and hooks, meeting heroes, the unlikely athlete, and people who inspired my writing even more. In between the fast deadlines and interviews, I pursued more writing in short stories, fiction books as well as poetry as a ghostwriter! It is so rewarding for me to stretch my creative muscles, work with people and create something for the world to see.
Through the years, I have pursued ghostwriting in the non-fiction arena with niches in sport, travel, health, politics and human interest pieces for books as well as online publications and blogs.
I have learned the art of meeting stringent deadlines. I like to research my topic thoroughly and have a sergeant eye for correcting copy - I freelance as a copywriter and proofreader. I collaborate and understand the process of time management, structure, and clear communication with my clients and team.
Check out some of the niches I have explored in my writing career:
Health and Fitness
Sports: running, triathlon, soccer, tennis, rugby, cricket
Travel
Self-help
Thriller
Comedy
Romance
Relationships
Politics
Books/writing I love: Emily Dickinson (she's in my intro, c'mon), The Great Gatsby by F Scott Fitzgerald, Four Winds by Kristin Hannah, The Bomber Mafia by Malcolm Gladwell and anything from Harlan Coben and Hank Green.
I look forward to receiving your project!

The World of Conspiracy Theories
The world is sinister yet happy. It is fleeting, it is chaotic and sometimes it’s unexplained. Throughout time, people have scrambled to deduce what happened at an event or in a situation, things that don’t quite add up. Let’s look at it a little more simply. You turn on your TV, sit back in your living room and watch the evening news. There is a flashing red banner and the news anchor reads from the prompter. There is a virus outbreak in Wuhan, China. It is spreading and countries have started to warn populations of this deadly virus. We are given hard facts, evidence from experts in the f...
