Biography
Alexandra Markham is a novelist who dabbles in horror, mystery, thrillers, paranormal, and paranormal romance. Of all her choices, horror is her favorite! Her two supernatural thrillers (under her own name) have been widely received, and Alexandra is currently hard at work on a mystery series, a horror series, and a horror script. She specializes in: Paranormal Romance, Fantasy, Urban Fantasy, Science Fiction, Paranormal, Horror, Thriller, and Pets. Alexandra is a non-AI writer.
Alexandra also has a deep interest in New Age, Forbidden History, and all things that go bump in the night. She also loves writing about all kinds of animals, especially horses! Alexandra also has extensive knowledge of essential oils, crystals, and crafts such as crochet, knitting, and cross-stitch.
Alex also enjoys haunted locations and a great ghost story, as well as cryptid lore and tales of serial killers such as Jack the Ripper and H.H. Holmes. Recently, she serves as a paranormal tour guide, telling ghostly tales of a nearby city and the chilling history behind haunted locations. If you want a ghost host, I'm your gal!
Besides being a third-level Dressage rider, Bronze medal winner, and experienced horse trainer, Alexandra lives with her husband in a typical suburban Midwestern home they share with their four wild and crazy rescue dogs. Before kicking off her writing career, Alexandra served as an animal nutritionist, an animal trainer, and a graphic designer. By far, her favorite job is letting her imagination out of the box and weaving tales to intrigue and captivate readers. In her spare hours, Alexandra annually tries to come up with ways to make her yard scarier for each Halloween.
Previous experience, degrees, and qualifications
I have been with TUW for almost five years and have successfully completed all my assignments. I have books published under my own name and am always coming up with new ideas on almost a daily basis.
Before TUW, my professional career has been filled with management, creative, and responsible positions.
Interests and hobbies
Like most of my fellow Urbanites, I love to read and have a stack about a mile high to entertain myself with. I worked in animal nutrition for ten years (Equine and Canine). I have worked as an animal trainer/instructor and have ridden three equestrian disciplines.
Being a paranormal aficionado, I love to go out on ghost hunts and haunted excursions. In fact, I am now a certified Ghost Tour guide for a nearby city! Halloween is my absolute favorite holiday, and I love dressing up myself and my yard. I never work on Halloween, it's my Christmas!
In addition, I am an animal Reiki master and crystal collector. I also enjoy handicrafts like knitting and counted cross-stitch. (Although I never have time to do them!) On my wish list is to be a motion picture advocate for animals and travel to locations to make sure that no animals were injured during filming.
How I'd describe my personality in two sentences
I think that I'm pretty easygoing and have a good sense of humor. I'm a bit of a nerd or perhaps a geek...not sure which word is the most popular these days but as the immortal Peggy Lee once sang "I know a little bit about a lot of things".
I'm creative and organized and even if I'm writing fiction that doesn't mean that I can't toss in some real facts along the way. (In fact, that's one of my favorite things to do!)
How I'd describe my approach to my work
I'll admit that I have always been more of a pantser than a plotter, so even though I may have come up with some great ideas for an outline or story, I always seem to get that lightning strike that says, "Hey, what about this?" When I am working on a project, my brain rarely shuts off, and I enjoy coming up with some last-minute brilliance. I would like to let potential customers know that I do have a faithful following and may not be available immediately. Please know that I try and give my best estimate on start times for your projects.
Why should you choose me for your project
I put every ounce of myself into a project. Even if I am not at my keyboard, I am always working on ways to make something better and constantly carry around a notebook and pen to jot down ideas (or my phone). I always want to make a project showcase my best effort to make your dream a success. I pride myself on the fact that I treat your project as if it were my own. I care a great deal about quality!
Often, I am in demand, so please message me about your projects. I will be as accurate as possible on a start date, but frequently, I am committed in advance.

Cafe of No Return
Bobbi took a deep breath and gave James a crooked smile that nearly melted his heart. “Okay, here goes. Until two weeks ago, I lived in the city. I was employed, shared an apartment and a cat with my boyfriend, and my aunt was alive. Now I find myself unemployed, homeless, auntless, and petless. I’ve inherited a manor home, old sanitarium, and about five acres of park that are facing me with all kinds of new challenges. Taxes, upkeep, and no income except a small inheritance that my aunt left me.” “What about the boyfriend?” “Oh, he’s long gone too.” “Just checking.” She hes...
August Benjamin
“Mrs. Kelly,” I assure you I can explain everything. “Is…is that fresh blood on that crossbow?” “Well, yes it is,” August replied sheepishly. “But I can assure you, it isn’t human.” Hannah just stared at him. Her mind raced to formulate her next question. She looked back at the wall of weapons. There appeared to be an older, small wooden, heavily carved box on the bottom shelf and she advanced cautiously forward to study it. Inside, she could see different items nestled in various pockets of aged burgundy velvet. Secured in the lid of the box, appeared to be Victorian looking syringes, c...
Blue Moon
Chapter 1 It was opening night at Blue Moon nightclub. Well, to be honest, it was only my opening night and my first real job as a canary. That’s slang for a singer in case you didn’t know that. I had dreamed of this moment since before I could remember and was giddy at the thought of beginning a new life. I was a bit nervous and sat down at the bar before my opening number. I suddenly had a case of dry throat that was likely brought on by nerves and needed something to get my voice in high gear. “What’ll you have,” asked the bartender. “Just a bit of grapefruit juice, please,” I re...
