Biography
"If you want to be a writer, you must do two things above all others: read a lot and write a lot,"
-Stephen King
Hi my name is Coleman and I am an avid writer and reader. I am excellent at keeping deadlines and value customer instructions highly. I think following instructions clearly and communicating effectively are key to giving you the pristine service The Urban Writers is renowned for.
I have a Bachelor of Arts in English and History. My formal education has equipped me with wide knowledge on these subjects as well as skills in research, critical analysis and of course writing. Throughout my time at university I wrote extensively on a range of subjects; everything from novels inspired by the Russian revolution to the fall of the Holy Roman Empire.
I have written several short stories and recently submitted one to a local journal in my hometown. I also write blog posts for, specializing in the film and television genre. My passion for film and television writing can be traced to my early teens, when I operated and wrote for a cinema/games related Facebook page. In this time I also wrote several film reviews for the Internet Movie Database (IMDb).
I am a huge film buff and could talk/write about cinema and television all day. I am also a big book nerd. My favourite books include Stoner by John Williams, American Psycho by Bret Easton Ellis and Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas by Hunter S. Thompson. I am also a true crime fan, having been reading about serial killers religiously since my early teens. I used to be a health and fitness fanatic and love to share some of the tips and tricks I learned over the years. I have also worked as a landscape assistant and love to write about gardening.

To say that a show changed television would normally be a statement loaded with exaggeration. However, in the case of The Sopranos, it could not be more true. The contemporary TV format we have today of long running, layered dramas is indebted to The Sopranos. Before it, it was unheard of that a TV show could not only be as good as a movie, but could be better. Before The Sopranos, most TV shows followed the traditional format of generally well meaning characters experiencing some sort of conflict that would be resolved at the end of an episode. While shows like HBO’s Oz and Twin Peaks h...
Why You Should Be Watching Arrested Development (Non-fiction)
Arrested Development chronicles the saga of the dysfunctional Bluth family as they navigate a family crisis. The series revolves around Michael Bluth as he attempts to pick up the pieces of his family’s business after his father is imprisoned. What follows is a tale of chaos, deception and absurdity as Michael endeavours to drag his narcissistic and incompetent family from the brink of destruction. When Arrested Development first aired on Fox in November of 2003, neither the cast nor the show’s creator, Mitchell Hurwitz, expected the show to take off. In the end, they were right. After t...
