Biography
Batty Belfry is an author who got his glasses reading in the dark. He grew up and lives in Lake Mary, Florida and is a University of Central Florida English alum. He was editor for Aquifer, supplement to The Florida Review, and has worked in education as an English/SAT test prep tutor for over ten years. Batty also runs his own small business, focused on literary, editorial, and tutoring services. Batty’s first publications were in both the spring issues of ETCetera, a magazine for typewriter collectors, and UCF’s literary and visual arts magazine, The Cypress Dome.
Ever since Bradbury lit a creative fire under him, Batty has been reading anything he could. He enjoys dissecting the nuances and celebrating the wordplay on and off the page with like-minded critical and creative thinkers. Reading is important to Batty because he learned that ideas are people who are stories that keep the fire going.
Batty writes science fiction, speculative fiction, nonfiction, and poetry. When he is not driving with his poetic license, Batty enjoys long podcasts, classic cinema, handicraft, breakfast for dinner, and deep dives into the subconscious theatre of his mind.
His favorite books to read are literary fiction, nonfiction, mystery and thriller, science fiction and fantasy, and comics and graphic narratives.
