Biography

Sidemi writes poetry and computer programs – however, she has yet to write a poem about computers.
She paints stories with acrylics, and with words.
She likes to explore multiple interests, to fulfill her keen desire to understand complex matters.

This pursuit for insight has led her towards an affinity for the writings of Malcolm Gladwell, who brings together seemingly unrelated events, to examine the thread of similarity running through them.
She is inspired by Paolo Coelho, who reveals the spirituality that is hidden on top of mountains, around campfires, and on spiritual journeys.

Her mindset has often allowed her to serve as the interface between architects of technology, and their business user counterparts within high-paced environments. It has resulted in her ability to present pertinent topics with clarity, allowing for understanding to be embraced by both sides of the conversation. She says that the spark that creates the light bulb moment, is where her joy for using words to impart a message comes from.

Her intellectual building blocks are her love of books and her degree in the seemingly unrelated Information Technology and Commercial Law. The practical application of such study resulted in years of web development, project management, and supplier management. The latter inspired her to study Procurement and Supply Chain Management. She also has a keen interest in understanding the history of events, people, and places, which have shaped the world we live in today.
Her writing contains a lighthearted hint of humor while delivering insight and understanding.

How I'd describe my personality in two sentences

I am somebody who is curious about the way the world works, that includes wanting to understand how people think, as well as why the sky is blue (and stuff like that). I am earnest with the touch of humor, which is my general approach to life.

How I'd describe my approach to my work

I am a deep diver who writes in layers.

For non fiction, I need to understand the subject matter so that I can easily explain it to my audience. This might mean research on the different interlaying aspects so that I can easily weave them together and refer to them in different chapters. This approach makes it easy for readers to understand any subject matter I tackle.

For fiction, I need to visualize how the characters present themselves and interact with each other to make a story believable to myself such that I can easily preset it to others. I enjoy subtle humor and insightful conversations that help expand the reader's understanding of the setting and characters.

For recipes, I enjoy experimenting with flavors through the incorporation on various herbs and spices. My use of spices is also informed by an understanding of how spices work in conjunction with others to provide a healing benefit in addition to their enjoyable flavors.

Why should you choose me for your project

My ability to see the entire picture and weave it together in a way that makes it easy to follow while delivering insights make my books enjoyable for those who read them.

My ability to think outside the box and highlight aspects that others may not consider provides a holistic experience for readers that embeds what they are reading into their lived experience.

My tenacity has helped me maintain a high reliability score, giving you the assurance that your project will be completed. Even those projects that I have been requested to pick up halfway due to others letting go, have gone on to become successful masterpieces.

Nomisupasta

I ended off my Youth Day by popping into the cinema to watch the local movie "Mrs Right Guy". Apart from gifted acting, a plausible storyline, bulging muscles, a mention of my favorite wine, and laughter-inducing moments, this movie had a lovely music selection. My only gripe was that they should have continued to select music with the same mastery they showed in the first half of the movie. Sadly, the multiple repetitions of the opening track which had enticed me to consider buying any soundtrack that could come out of this movie dampened that particular dream. The enticing song? Well, t...

When the South Easterly Blows

I have always associated Amsterdam with tulips and windmills. My favorite fable though has to be the one about the little boy who stuck his finger in the dyke and thus stopped the town from flooding. So in starting my ruminations on windmills, what better place to go than Amsterdam? Where just outside the city, the Zaanse Schans Windmill Museum can be visited annually from April till October, so let’s get packing! Starting at the Windmill Museum allows us to look forward with an understanding of the past. For instance, by asking the question – where is humanity coming from when it comes t...

Your world is spiraling out of control. Everywhere you look, there is evidence of greed, control, and a lack of compassion for the community. Do you know where to turn for answers, or what can inspire you to make a difference? Six hundred years ago, the Native Americans faced and overcame the very same problems. Their solutions can be applied to your own life. Creation Of Land

What we are not conflicted about is that Raven created the land. With a quick stab of his beak, he forced land into place when it started to rise a little bit above the water that covered the earth. Either the soil for land rose to the surface by itself, or it was brought to the surface from deep below the water’s surface. In cases where the soil was physically brought to the surface, it occurs as a solution to Raven’s boredom. Raven enlists the help of various animals for the creation of land. For this diving task that Raven was unable to perform, he requested Muskrat, Beaver, and Loon t...

Gqeberha - What’s In A Name?

Gqeberha is the windy city, with beautiful harbors and beaches, found along the southern shoreline of South Africa’s Eastern Cape Province. Until recently called Port Elizabeth, Gqeberha has got a name entrenched in a rich cultural heritage, and enveloped by a history that is a reflection of those who live in it. (Photo: early days) That history starts with the Gqeberha River, a river whose name is worth examination. Breaking down the word Gqeberha into its parts, we find that “rha” refers to the water that was at the river mouth, water being integral to human life and human settlements w...

Biding Time

Science fiction provides us with a vision of what the future may look like. However, we are still waiting for the day when we can head over to the mall and back up memories. This will be the step taken right before we install these in our newly cloned bodies. Because of the promise of this possibility, a belief that future generations will not need to die is increasingly becoming visible in popular culture. Not being in a position to take care of this promise, however, most believers bide their time. They wait out death by doing their best to stay healthy in anticipation of further scientif...

Overcoming Linguistic Barriers

Language often acts as a barrier in new places. This keeps travelers at arm's length from authentic interactions. By relying solely on English, travelers miss opportunities to engage more deeply with locals. When English is used, interactions are likely to be brief and transactional. However, by using basic phrases like "Bonjour" or "Merci," in a French-speaking locale, you signal respect and openness. This breaks down walls and invites warmer, more personal exchanges. It's these small gestures that pave the way for meaningful conversations and understanding. By knowing how to say these ...

Collapse of The Silicon Valley Bank

On the surface of it, the collapse of Silicon Valley Bank(SVB) looks like a series of events that took place over a period of 48 hours. Two days when the bank tried to raise capital, lost its financial rating with Moody's, lost its standing in the financial social media community, and was shut down by the FDIC. However, this series of events was the tip of an iceberg that was composed of shifting interest rates, unplanned deposit withdrawals, and bad policies that concentrated investor and start-up funds in a single simmering pot intended to fuel the growth of startups, investors, and the b...

Tuesday's Rubbish

It was Tuesday evening and he had forgotten to take the big rubbish bin out into the street for collection again. As he entered the gate, he could smell the remnants of last night's box of pizza from its perch on top of the bin. The evening scent of the flowers from the garden did nothing to mask the smell of garlic and tomato that had spent a day in the sun. A feeling of dread washed over him as he remembered that this was the second week in a row that he had forgotten to put out the rubbish for the weekly collection by the municipality. After her numerous reminders yesterday, his wife was...
