Biography

The first time I held a book, I tore it up to make paper planes to keep up with my childhood imagination of how many different ways I could make paper planes that fly long distances.

The first real-time I paid attention to a book, I was a young child who had just watched Beauty and The Beast and was more interested in the pictures in the storybook, than the words beautifully crafted on paper. This went on for a while, until one day I was bored out of my mind, had no TV, and no other children to play with. That was the time I paid attention to the words on paper. My young mind was opened up to the world of stories and stories telling.

I fell into a rabbit hole I never wanted to leave. To this day, I am still sinking and loving every minute of it.

There is something about being transported into hundreds of worlds and never having to leave the comfort of your home. But perhaps more than anything, it is the pleasure of being the one whose book has someone sinking blissfully into a rabbit hole.

My love for stories translated into storytelling.

I have a Bachelors Degree in Journalism and Communication. I've been writing for as far as I can remember, going back to primary school for short stories in English class, and then joining the Journalism club in High School that offset a lifelong passion for writing.

Interests and hobbies

I love reading anything I can get my hands on. My pass time is spent exploring topics and ideas I don't already know or simply find fascinating. When I'm not stuck in a book, I love camping and taking long walks with loud music blasting in my ears.

How I'd describe my personality in two sentences

I am introverted, occasionally enjoy being around people but only if I mentally build up to a long day of socializing. I am easy going, and easy to talk to, which makes a lot of people feel relaxed when around me.

How I'd describe my approach to my work

If I'm writing, I can only truly start once I have a clear understanding of the flow of the book I'm writing. Once I understand the topics I need to writing and in the order they will appear, I like to start with filling in what I already know on the topic before making more research and filling in the blanks or challenging what I've written. This is always interesting for me to know how much of what I've written is correct info, while also learning something else I can carry forward to the rest of the order.

In general, Amaya is a solid writer. I really appreciate her engaging writing style and the care she put into each chapter—her ability to connect ideas is truly nice to see. One suggestion I have is to include additional academic references and clear examples in Chapters 2 and 3 to further strengthen the arguments. I’ve been working on gathering these references myself, which I’m happy to do, but it would have been helpful to address them sooner. I also wanted to mention that the holiday delay made it challenging for me to review the book in as much depth as I originally hoped—particularly since I was away in mindful of the client's schedule as well, since the extension made it more challenging on my end.
