Biography
Hi, I'm Laurel. In a world of creative possibilities, I've chosen writing, graphic design, web design & photography as my hobbies, though I'm working on making them more than hobbies. The first job I ever had was data entry at a courier service, and it was a good job to start with, but I've figured out I'm more creatively minded since then. So began my training in graphic design like logos and business cards, web design and development (enter HTML and CSS coding). I dabble in photography, but I enjoy reading science fiction and fantasy most and have been writing short stories in that genre. My first story was about a character I play in the online game World of Warcraft, and I've written many more since then. I suppose my favourite part of writing is showing my emotions through my characters at times, as each is a partial reflection of me. I would love to discover how I can help my customers achieve their writing dreams, using the time management skills I learned during my time with the courier service, and in keeping with the instructions that each writing assignment comes with.

Permafrost - The Foundation
So, now that I have a foundation in HTML, CSS, Git, Github, and the Command Line in Terminal, next step is too make a portfolio website. Am I ready? Heck yes! I spent soo much time trying to figure out how to do it, and the new tools I’ve become familiar with will definitely do the trick. *Finally* I can display my works to the world properly. Step one: figure out my content. Let’s see... I have blue shades and black and white from my logo, and I know I want blue in my brand colours, and not just because it’s my favourite colour. Blue in colour psychology means loyalty, dependability, trus...
Grand Adventure
Irean pulled her horse to a stop beside the inn in Boralus. Nyassa had said twenty minutes, and she figured she had ten minutes left before the other mage showed up. She dismounted, keeping a light hand on the reins while checking mail for the supplies cousin Læurell said she’d send. “O boy.” She murmured to herself. Her mail was full to overflowing with packages of food; she’d told Læurell she didn’t know how long she and the other mages would be gone from civilization, but she hadn’t expected *this*. It was just a simple exploration trip, right? How long could that possibly take? “Oh m...
Greeking Out
Zeus is the god of the cosmos, the god of thunder, and the god of the sky (Zeus, 2024). What comes to mind when you hear the name? Pegasus carrying his thunderbolt? Poseidon is known as a god over the sea, storms, earthquakes, and horses. He protected seafarers and guarded many Greek cities and colonies (Poseidon, 2024). Hades is the god of the dead and king of the underworld. In artistic depiction, he is typically holding a bident, a staff resembling a pitchfork, wearing a helm, and his three-headed dog Cerberus standing beside him (Hades, 2024). Apollo is known as god of archery, mu...

Two is Better than One
Bryon pulled the Lego box off the shelf, pulling it to the center of the living room. “What are you building today, buddy?” The raven-haired six-year-old looked up at his mom. “Felt like building a castle.” He answered. “Can I come to play?” The chocolate-haired child entered the room, making a beeline straight for the Lego box and Bryon. “Not now, Lizzie.” A sad expression crept across the preschooler’s face. “What if you shared your Lego with Lizzie? Maybe she could help you build your castle.” Bryon sighed. “But Mom, she always makes a mess.” He complained. “You know you always ha...
Tabitha's Quest
Tabitha hated hospitals. The sterile smells, glaring lights, and white-smocked doctors hurrying about. But, she thought, at least I get to see Grandpa. That was the only silver lining to her. The blond-haired, blue-eyed eleven-year-old stuck close to her mom as they headed to the admittance office part of the hospital. The nurse on duty behind the counter glanced at the approaching mother and daughter pair. “Can I help you?” She asked. “We’re here to see Gabriel O’connor. I’m his daughter and this is his granddaughter.” The nurse gave Tabitha an encouraging smile before turning to her com...
