Misconceptions around ADHD
Have you heard people around you say, 'ADHD is not even a real medical condition'? Or 'It is not ADHD; your child is just being lazy'? Or even 'It is not ADHD; you only need to discipline your child more'? If you have heard them often, just tell them to mind their business because these misconceptions are far from the truth. It is unfair how those with ADHD got the stigma around them when they did not choose it or do anything to get it. Unless those who often throw stigmas around ADHD walk in the same shoes, they won't understand how anxious someone with ADHD already is. Admit it or not, th...
Intro to Investing for Young Adults
Imagine this: In the future, you will be chilling on a beach with a drink in hand or waiting to start your journey traveling around the world, thanking your younger self for being a total rockstar. How do you achieve that? It's all by investing in your future. You are succeeding in ditching those instant gratifications and saving money for your future by investing in stocks, bonds, and mutual funds. These are tools to grow your money over time, thanks to something magical called compound interest. It's like earning interest on your interest, making your money snowball into a financial fortu...
Intro to Budgeting Like a Pro
Picture yourself trekking through a place you've never been to without a map or compass. You'd feel lost, frustrated, and like you're going in circles, even when you think you're making progress. Your financial journey is a bit like that—complex and intimidating—without you setting your goals first. Whether paying off student loans, saving for your dream car, buying a home, or securing your child's future, having clear financial goals is like having a roadmap to guide you. It helps you focus on what's important and take meaningful steps toward making your dreams a reality. By painting a pic...
Ensuring Home Safety for Children with Autism
Most parents are naturally concerned about their children's safety and security, especially at home. For parents of children with autism, this concern often needs to be heightened because their kids might focus intently on one thing and miss potential dangers around them. Plus, they might display behaviors that can be unsafe, like throwing objects, breaking utensils, climbing on windows, or sweeping items off surfaces. Because of this, it's crucial to implement extra safety measures beyond typical concerns. Introducing the concept of safety to children with autism should be a gradual and...
Challenge Yourself
What would your life be like without any challenges? You wouldn't seize any chance to enhance your talents, locate a job that makes you happier than before, or develop a new habit. Also, you will always be trapped inside the walled-off container you have constructed to keep failure and unexpected experiences at bay. Don't stress over failing! Consider failure an excellent stepping stone to success rather than a step backward. You'll never learn to push yourself outside of your comfort zone if you can't overcome your fear of failure. Failure is almost certain to follow when you challenge you...
Reducing Stimming in Children with Autism
Stimming, short for self-stimulatory behavior, is often seen in children with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) and includes repetitive movements or sounds. These behaviors, like hand-flapping, rocking, spinning, hard blinking, humming, tapping objects, or covering and uncovering ears, might seem odd or distracting to others. However, for children with autism, stimming can be a crucial way to manage feelings of frustration, overwhelm, or pain. While most stimming behaviors are harmless, some can lead to self-injury, such as excessive scratching, biting, head-banging, or slapping. It's importan...
Get Uncomfortable!
When was the last time you purposefully did something uncomfortable? It's natural for people to seek comfort zones in life, but staying there won't take you further. The longer you remain in your comfort zone, the more bored and discontent you'll feel. Challenging yourself is key to growth. Stepping out of your comfort zone means exploring new territory. We must get uncomfortable and get used to it. Often in life, we must perform in uncomfortable situations that bring new opportunities, like giving presentations to strangers or talking to industry seniors. Imagine getting used to being unco...
Start a Self-Care Routine
How often do you feel bad and sick inside after not taking care of yourself by consuming unhealthy food? Is it after eating junk food and highly processed food, chugging alcohol, or smoking a pack of cigarettes per day? Why won’t you simply take care of your body as the only place you have to live? Most of us must have heard about the importance of self-care or what we “should” do for self-care. Not limited to taking yourself to the gym, meditating, or getting check-ups, the most important form of self-care is good nutrition, as it creates a better sense of balance in your life. So why is s...
Drop Your Worst Habit
Deep inside our minds and hearts, we all have a few terrible habits that are stopping us from going further. We must have been wishing that our terrible habit would go away, but it seems like we’re absolutely stuck in a cycle of repeating those same behaviors over and over. Admit it or not, you already have some bad habits in mind that you want to drop as you’re reading this. Is it spending way too much money on meaningless items? Is it always late on every occasion? Is it your inability to control emotions towards other people? Is it procrastinating when you have targets to meet? Is it wat...
A Stoic Life
Your first encounter with Stoicism might have been from a quote you saw on social media, a website article, or a video. At first, you might think that Stoicism is just an ancient philosophy with little relevance to modern life. Something from the era of gladiators can't be applied to the social media age, right? But that's not entirely true. You can actually incorporate Stoic values into your life right now amidst a social media barrage or constant responsibilities ahead your way. The values and applications of Stoicism are timeless, helping you navigate daily activities with more resilienc...
Financial Literacy for Young Adults
Financial literacy often feels like a forgotten subject, left out of school curriculums and avoided in everyday conversations. Yet, it’s a skill that has the power to shape your life in ways you might not have considered. Think about it: how many times have you or someone you know struggled with impulsive spending, watched credit card debt pile up, or felt stressed trying to manage finances? Those moments of regret after a late-night online splurge or the frustration of feeling like money controls you instead of the other way around? It’s a shared experience for many—especially because most...
