Senior FORMATTER (Paperback/eBook) Fiction, long form, non-fiction, foreign, cookbook, journal, Indexing, Out of Scope!
Biography
Firstly, Hello there! 😄 And then, most importantly, what do I do? Currently, I am only accepting and completing formatting orders. I am the most senior formatter and work with admin on priority orders and to correct any issues. And I LOVE, and EXCEL, at what I do! 😊
And now, some boring bits, because it's about me...😅
My name is Pat John, and I joined the human race in 1977 (way easier to say this than state my age and update annually hahahaha). I am at the sweet spot in life where I have the age of experience, but still the youth of discovery before me😄 I am single and father to two awesome kids, and grandfather to two absolutely adorable grandkids.
I have been with TUW since 2020. My interests lie in sci-fi, fantasy, romance, religion, and mystery (mostly about my life choices and why I am still single!). I have spent numerous years studying philosophy, religion, and psychology. My favorite author is Stephen King, and my hobbies include anything DC or Marvel-related, Star Wars, and Star Trek. I ca easily see myself as Captain of the USS Enterprise H.
But now, let me focus on a priority in my life. I love FORMATTING; it suits my perfectionist OCD personality like a glove hahaha. I find it calms and helps me to focus. Some folk love golfing, quilting, jogging, singing, or dancing (all of which is generally known as TikTokking) as their hobby and passion. I love formatting!
So what is formatting and what are the options?
At TUW, formatting is where we ensure that your book (both paperback and eBook) will look its stunning best in terms of the layout and structure. Formatting addresses the interior of your book and includes standard and custom (Out of Scope/OOS) options. The custom or OOS options would be an additional expense.
Standard (std) and OOS options for eBook include:
• A hyperlinked Table of Contents (TOC) - std.
• Reflowable content - std.
• Ensuring all margins and preset styles are correctly formatted - std.
• Ensuring images are In Line With Text and fit the page - std.
• The main font used is Georgia and it is set at 12 points and the alignment is justified - std.
• Centering specific sections or content - OOS
• Reducing/altering image size - OOS
• Changing color images to greyscale - OOS
• Altering spacing/line spacing between headings and/or content - OOS
**Please note, OOS can be purchased either through my profile or via.
Standard (std) and OOS options for Paperback include:
• Creating the TOC with page numbering – std.
• Addition of page numbering to pages (left and right edges or centered) - std
• Ensuring all Bullet & Numbered Lists are correctly formatted - std
• Image orientation - std
• The main font used is Garamond and it is set at 12 points and the alignment is justified - std.
• Altering spacing/line spacing between headings and/or content - OOS
• Centering specific sections or content - OOS
• Image shifting - OOS
• Customized page numbering - OOS
• Addition of Headers/Footers - OOS
• Image placement and/or color conversion to greyscale - OOS
• Indexation - OOS
• Dropcaps - OOS
• First Line Indentation - OOS
• Journal and workbook formatting - OOS
• Adjustment of layout in paperback so the content flows correctly - OOS
Do please feel free to discuss any of the above with me! I am happy to help and assist!🤗🙏

A day in my life
I woke up this morning, with the following words racing through my mind: The best attitude for a new day is a positive attitude. This, I decided would be my mantra for today. I am a single father, with an amazing 14-year-old son, and I am struggling financially. Aren't we all? Especially as the entire world faces COVID-19. Normally, I would wish to give him the world. Today, I simply wish I could give him takeaways. This is not because eateries are closed. It's merely because of that horrible word, finances. I cannot afford to give him takeaways. And being the great son that he is, he...
Like parent, like child
There was a television advertisement some years ago, with the only audio being a haunting melody. It was tragic in the truth its visuals displayed and sobering in its disturbing audio. It showed parents behaving in a most undesirable manner and being mimicked by their children, who are behaving in the same way. Sons grabbing their crotches and whistling and shouting obscenities at female children, as their fathers did likewise to women passing by in the street. Parents injecting themselves with drugs, and passing out with lit cigarettes in their hands; their sons and daughters in the sa...
My forever girl
Life and joy, bliss and perpetude, Forever and always dwelling together. This is the land eternal, the dominion of Forever. She walks in the cool shade of Forever, And basks in the warm embrace of the land eternal. Her life is boundless, her days unnumbered, Her age is youth, her spirit is unbreakable, her wisdom is ancient. She is the daughter of Eternity, the Forever Girl.
The Butterfly
A glimmer of light flutters in the dark, And lights the midnight sky of my soul. A soul that has been burdened with a horrendous mark; A soul so ravaged, it could never again be whole. A flash of light, expanding its wings into a bright glow; As our words are exchanged, and our hidden souls begin to show. I see you, and you see me – as our words begin to flow, True love, true beauty, and true honesty starts to grow.

Professional, Efficient Formatting That Exceeded Expectations I couldn't have been happier with Pat's work formatting my book for publication. As a first time self-publishing author, I would have been lost navigating the technical requirements. Pat made the process smooth and stress-free. From the start, Pat's communication was excellent. He clearly explained every step and answered all my novice questions with patience. He delivered the properly formatted files in less than 24 hours. The level of service Pat provided was above and beyond. He didn't just send the formatted files, but took time to explain different options, make recommendations, and highlight areas for improvement. His insightful feedback showed true dedication to my book's success. The properly formatted manuscript looked professional and polished thanks to Pat's expertise and diligent work. He also taught me a few things about the formatting process. It is always a good day when I learn something new:) I couldn't give a higher recommendation for any author needing top-notch formatting assistance. Pat's 5-star service, quick turnaround, and expertise make him the perfect partner for bringing your book to publishable quality.

The first time I saw my formatted book, I got really emotional because it was beautifully and professionally formatted. I took it personally because this was my first time writing a book with my professional credentials. So, hope someone can relate to me as to how John knew what I needed. John was timely, and professional and communicated in detail, what he will be doing and asked you if you had any comments or changes made so he can apply it as you want. I will recommend John and use John again in my next book if he still works at Urban Writer.

Working with has been a dream! He is a skilled story teller who brought my rather flat characters to life, not to mention adding to the plot twists to make an interesting story with some very likeable and relatable characters.
