Biography
As a graduate of linguistics and history of art, I am passionate about all things related to language and culture. I love reading as much as I do writing, and I am currently enjoying Klara and The Sun, by Kasuo Ishiguro. I set myself a reading goal where every second book I read offers a bit of a challenge—be it non-fiction, a classic novel, or poetry. Between these, I like to keep up to date with new fiction by authors I like, as well as by reading the works of new writers on the scene.
I'm interested in learning new things all the time, so I often take evening courses in subjects I am curious about. I recently completed a certificate course in Health and Nutrition which has been immensely useful in my day to day life. In my spare time I love being out in nature; hiking, gardening, or exploring. I am definitely looking forward to getting to travel again. As I am conscious of my carbon footprint, my next area of research is going to be in sustainable travel.

In September, as schools started back for fall term, our only redemption from the nightly torture of lice checking was the promise of a cup of ice-cream and a cuddle. This particular evening I had asked for banana ice...
Living Abroad: Home
When travelling previously, I would never have set foot in an Irish bar. I was always conscious to follow the trends of the locals and would vehemently avoid the so-called tourist traps. I assumed that these same morals would remain intact when engaging in a more permanent stay somewhere. What I didn’t take into account was the short-lived, but often excruciating pain of homesickness. The desire to find one’s peers, to converse with ease with all the relevant cultural references intact can be all consuming. You will struggle with learning the language. But you will move past this.
