"Nothing is more powerful than the written word"-Danielle De Barbarac
My name is and I have been fortunate enough to call myself a writer from the age of 16 when my first ever article was published in a high school magazine. Since then, I have never looked back as I have immersed myself in the written word.
Writing has been apart me for as long as I remember. It was a passion that stemmed from my love for reading. I remember the title of the very first book I read and at the tender age of four. I remember each and every word only because a world that I never knew existed opened up for me. It was as if I could share it with the world.
Now, I have published more than 20 articles in a high school magazine and a university newspaper. I have also ghostwritten a book (prior to me being part of Urban writers) about mental illness and have been part of several writing competitions (both academic and creative) and recently won the Agri-Writers competition in South Africa.
Nothing is more powerful than the written word only because the written word can break barriers, travel across time, spark conversations, transcend generations and more importantly be a friend to those who need it the most. That is why I will always cherish it.
