Helping turn your book idea into something that others will enjoy reading!

Biography

I have worked as a book editor for a publishing company, and a magazine editor for a national writing group. I was a librarian and English teacher in a primary school for fifteen years, and also ran the conservation team, the garden club and the school choir and band.
I write my own fiction books, but stick to non-fiction for TUW.
I enjoy reading, writing, watching movies, cooking, baking, hiking, gardening, and playing the drums.

Previous experience, degrees, and qualifications

I was a book editor for a publishing company in the UK, and the magazine editor for my country's national writing group. I write my own fiction books, so I prefer writing non-fiction as a freelancer, just to keep the two separate.

I have a diploma in Horticulture, a Bachelor degree and a teaching qualification. I taught English and Media Studies as part of my librarian career, had a brief interlude as a music teacher and started a rock band in the school library.

Interests and hobbies

I have been working on a romance adventure series of novels for the past few years, and also spend time reading, watching movies, and hiking.

I enjoy cooking and baking, but aren't always successful at them. Fortunately, my husband spent his bachelor years surviving on instant noodles, so anything I make tastes like cordon bleu to him!

I dabble in vegetable gardening, mainly to feed my very cute Mini-Rex rabbit called Bugs.

My husband and I have recently started to crew for yachting races.
We are currently working on fulfilling our dream of driving off into adventure, and living in our awesome little DIY foamy camper.

I adore playing the drums!

How I'd describe my personality in two sentences

I am enthusiastic, spontaneous and I enjoy adventure.
I am also hard-working and organized.

How I'd describe my approach to my work

I think that communication between writer and customer is vital.
My writing and librarian backgrounds mean that I will do copious amounts of research to make sure that any facts are accurate and interesting.

Why should you choose me for your project

I am an excellent writer, and I will always do my best to bring your vision to life.

A Birds-eye View of the Valley of a Thousand Hills

This seems like a horribly long way to travel for a simple hike, but the views over the Valley of a Thousand Hills are worth it. You need to head towards Hillcrest on the Old Main Road past Botha’s Hill, past The Pot and Kettle, and past Phezulu. You might think you have missed it, but keep heading forwards. You will come to a Drummond sign with a feeling of relief, but the journey is not yet finished. Continue driving, even though it may now feel like you are going into the deepest darkest bush. You will come around a corner and suddenly see a haven of civilisation at the Drum and B...

Raised Bed Gardening

Have you tried to grow vegetables before and failed? Were you only able to watch helplessly as bugs and other wildlife had more of your crop than you did? Have you ever woken up with an aching back from pulling out weeds in an unnatural crouching position the previous day? Maybe your doctor has told you to give up your precious garden because you are unable to tend to it safely anymore. Raised-bed gardening gives you control over many aspects that doom other types of gardening, and allows you to serve healthy, pesticide-free food to your family with much less effort than normal vegetable...

Have a House Bunny

I used to think that rabbits were the most boring of pets. They were fluffy balls of fur in a cage, chewing on grass or maybe carrots. They made no noise, had no personality, and didn’t even have the cute factor of scampering around like mice or hamsters. Like many people, I consigned rabbits to an outdoor hutch, where they could continue their dull life of munching in quiet and solitude. I was under the impression that they preferred to be in a calm and peaceful area of the yard. I really knew nothing about rabbits! This ignorance changed when we decided to buy a pet and were not ...

Julianne took my outline of a vision and brought it to life. I was impressed with her knowledge and cooperation. She brought helpful suggestions to the table and shared passion for the project as much as I did. I enjoyed working with her very much.
