Biography

My journey as a writer and scholar started in 1996. Inspired by a single lecture, I switched my major from music to English literature and have not looked back (although I still possess the eclectic spirit of a hippy-rockstar). I now have a PhD in English literature, and have enjoyed a great career as a teaching and researching academic. My writing experience over the past 17 years working as an academic has not restricted me to scientific writing, but has also extended to various styles of mainstream writing as well: from blogs and short copy to longer essay and book chapters.
My interests as a writer, reader and researcher extend beyond the tome of English novels, short stories and poetry. I am an avid crafter, enjoy attending workshops that broaden my spiritual horizons, love walking my dogs (and singing as I go), indulge in a cup of hot chocolate while I read a good book or a hundred, and am a lifelong learner: staying curious about the world and my place in it.

Previous experience, degrees, and qualifications

I have a PhD in English Literature and previous publishing experience in the field academic writing, editing and reviewing.

Interests and hobbies

I enjoying reading, engaging in handcrafts, and walking my two highly energetic dogs.

How I'd describe my personality in two sentences

I am an introvert geek with an interest in all things fantasy and sci fi.

How I'd describe my approach to my work

I enjoy collaborating on work-based projects and manage time well across the work week and in relation to specific tasks. My approach to projects is first to conduct research, if I am not familiar with the topic at hand, and then to break the project down into manageable sections with smaller deadlines attached to these. If I am working on a project that requires collaboration, I prefer to engage with collaborators weekly and/or as sections or chapters of work are drafted.

Why should you choose me for your project

A good collaboration relies on trust and an openness to receiving feedback. I am curious about the world and trustworthy in upholding the integrity of the writing craft. I am excited to engage in and learn about your project, as much as the opportunity to do so afford me the opportunity to learn and develop my craft, and broaden my knowledge and understanding of new fields.

When in Rome (The Origins of Neo-paganism)

The thought of starting an exciting new journey with a history lesson may have you rolling your eyes and facepalming as you conjure up images of graffiti’d school desks and tedious lectures full of dates and dead people. But I don’t want you to think of this chapter as that at all. Instead, I want you to think about it as a story. There are conspiracies, catastrophes, and colorful characters: a glorious soap opera that culminates in what we call neo-paganism. And the whole vibe is retro. So let’s start by putting on our hiking boots, grabbing our bottles of water, and donning our sun ha...
