Part Time Day Dreamer, Full Time Solutionist

Biography

I love to tell stories. Some may say I give too many details or perhaps I am too open about things in my life but there's always so much whimsy around true story telling! I am a clothing designer but my first love with character and costume design when I began geeking out and collecting super hero comics in my teens. Many moons later, and I have nearly 500 comics. Sadly I was unable to get a career path in the main passion and settled for clothing instead. All the while dipping my toes in blogging and art and any type of creative hobby I could find.

Eventually I was brave enough to add short film directing to my hobby list and was a finalist on two occasions for an international film festival for creative direction. I have so many more wonderful worlds to create with my ideas and visions in my mind. I am self employed which allows me the flexibility to be anything I want to be and I seldom limit myself.

Previous experience, degrees, and qualifications

I have written for and been published several times by Rebelle Society on topics of the existential nature, along with writing for local magazines and smaller projects. My qualification is a diploma in Desktop publishing with 22 years in clothing design and production management, focusing on business strategy, securing clients, and solutions for the work that we get. I love focusing on the imaginings of a life that could be, while being passionate about the creative projects I invest time into, so writing has been something I keep for self-expression over the mundane of normality.

Interests and hobbies

Roller-skating (I'm a newby so don't have high expectations), yoga, meditation reading, writing, film and series watching, film directing, creative direction, costume design for private clients, styling, coaching others onto better paths, animals, swimming, being outdoors, comic books, puzzles, games, not acting my age, My Little Ponies, anything esoteric and drawing

How I'd describe my personality in two sentences

I like to be the shiniest person in the room who makes anyone feel welcome. I want to ignite open dialogue and inspire everyone I meet to express themselves authentically and from their most passionate heart.

How I'd describe my approach to my work

Even though I work well with community and teams that I brainstorm with, I love to sink my teeth into projects especially creative ones or those that require a solutionist approach. I take a bird's eye view strategy, observing how all aspects connect. I love a challenge and work extremely well under pressure because of my 22 years in the local clothing manufacturing sector.

Why should you choose me for your project

I will take your project on as if it were my own baby. I'm not one for doing things half-cocked, and rather become passionate about the work I'm invested in. I've assisted many projects and brands in their execution and completion when others with more experience have failed or chosen not to rise to the challenge. I have a long list of completed and successful projects in the clothing and events sector that nobody knows I was responsible for, so receiving the credit for them was not my main motivator, but rather bringing them to life, knowing for myself that I did that because it was for my own personal growth to achieve the end goal. I'm proud of my work to date while still knowing there is always room to grow and do more.
