Biography
My name is Christy and I am an avid reader and writer of many topics and niches. I have a well developed eye for detail, and tend to curse that some days, when wishing to enjoy reading a modern novel! The ability to see every mistake is fantastic for writing, but not so great for casual reading, especially now, when anyone can publish a book to Kindle, edited and proofread or not.
I am an extremely organized person, and stick very closely to deadlines and instructions. I have good communication skills and a dedicated nature. I am an academic person and I enjoy research and learning. I have a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Media and Communications, a Diploma in Professional Photography, and certificates in Farm Management and Animal Husbandry, which I use to run a small scale hobby farm. Writing and farming are my two passions, and I am endlessly grateful to be living both at once.
My love for the English language was nurtured when I was a child, both by my parents, who loved to read, and by a number of my teachers at school. It was cemented in when I reached Grade Three, and my teacher that year ignored the approved curriculum and read The Hobbit with us in class; that was my introduction to the world of fantasy, and the solid base for my passion for literature. My first love is fiction, and my favorite genres are fantasy and sci-fi, though I thoroughly enjoy writing books on any number of other topics, including travel, health and fitness, science and technology, and the arts.
Previous experience, degrees, and qualifications
I have a BA degree in media and communications, specializing in journalistic writing, and 7 years' experience writing articles in a variety of niches for a multitude of publications.
I am also an experienced editor and proofreader with an excellent eye for detail.
Interests and hobbies
I am a hobby farmer and an animal lover. I enjoy the outdoors, particularly horse riding.
I am also very interested in the arts, history, and nature, and on the other hand, technology and progress.
How I'd describe my personality in two sentences
I fit somewhere between extrovert and introvert, and although I sometimes enjoy the company of groups of people, they often find me a bit strange. My happiest place is at home with my dogs and horses, or submerged in another world, whether I am writing or reading about it.
How I'd describe my approach to my work
I find I am most successful when I treat my freelance work as a full-time job. Therefore, I start work at 9am and finish at 5pm, whether I have a significant amount of work or not. I am very concerned with deadlines and being on time, so I never leave a job to the last minute.
Why should you choose me for your project
I am a dedicated writer with an interest in many topics and an ability to write in many niches. I am responsible, and able to complete jobs in a timely manner with a high level of quality. I produce work with a level of perfectionism that means there is very little proofreading to be done, and the only changes that should be required are those of preference.
