For the past 4 and a half years (2022 - present), I have been writing for Dibbly/The Urban Writers. During this time, my skills and experience have grown in many ways, allowing me to not only help authors bring their vision to life, but also assist them with additional tasks, including market research, understanding their target audience, and transforming industry-specific language and strategies into content that readers are excited about engaging with.
My name is Lyra Murphy, and I'm excited about the possibility of working with you. My experience is pretty broad. It has allowed me to write over 80 books of various lengths, ranging between 500 and 70,000 words. But the length of the project doesn't really matter because I always give each book my full attention to ensure that, by the time you receive the final version of your book, it's exactly what you were imagining.
Since I, unfortunately, cannot read minds, I invite authors to be part of the writing process. This allows you to review the content, provide feedback, and make suggestions that help me better understand what you are looking for from your book. You can even provide samples of work you like so that I can get a better idea of the kind of tone and writing style you are aiming for. But this still leaves us with two questions:

2. Why do I believe I'm the right fit for your project?

However, it is my love of fiction and my creative hobbies (painting, reading, sculpting, playing instruments) that provide the creative fuel needed to write original, quality content. Previous experience, degrees, and qualifications
With a Bachelor of Arts in Forensic Science and Technology, I have over 4 years of experience in academic writing and research. Additionally, I have 4 years of experience using medical journal articles and studies to write books that use tools and techniques backed by science. Overall, my experience has equipped me with the skills and knowledge needed to take industry-specific content and terminology and transform it into written content that the intended audience will enjoy reading.
Interests and hobbies
I love researching topics I don't have much knowledge about because I love to learn new things. My love of learning has led me to teach myself how to play ukulele and the lyre harp, sing, knit, sew, sculpt clay, and paint with watercolor.
Over the years, my curiosity and persistence have led me to expand my skill set and knowledge base, and it is something that I continue to do.
Additionally, my love of fiction, comics, and art has taught me how to approach topics from a new angle. This helps me write about even the most common subject in a way that is informative and interesting to read.
How I'd describe my personality in two sentences
I am curious and persistent, which only fuels my love of learning and mysteries. However, my open mind, patience, and attention to detail ensure that my writing is as unique and accurate as possible.
How I'd describe my approach to my work
Planning is important to me. I start a project by obtaining all the information that I can on the topic through research and by asking the Author clarifying questions about their brief. I will then write the Introduction and Chapter 1 so that I may ask the Author for feedback that allows me to ensure I'm on the right track with the book's tone and content.
Authors also receive daily progress updates from me as I like to invite them to review each chapter after it has been written to ensure they are happy with the content, writing style, and my approach to the topic. Regular feedback is also encouraged as it helps me turn the Author's vision into reality.
