Biography

"Those who dream by day are cognizant of many things which escape those who dream only at night." – Edgar Allan Poe

My name is Ryn Wolfe, and I too am a day dreamer. For me, everything I see and hear; everything I experience, is another opportunity for inspiration—and I’ve experienced quite a lot in my lifetime.

When I think back to my earliest memories, writing is one of those things that I’ve just always done. As a child, I’d ask my parents to give me a word or an idea when we went on long car trips, so I could see how much I could write before we got there. I still remember when I was in third grade, I had an assignment to make up my own fairy-tail. I don’t remember what the story was about anymore, but I’ll never forget how it felt to bring it home and show my parents the grade I got on it—an A++!

In the 30 plus years since that funny little fairy-tail, I’ve written everything from poetry and short stories to a fully illustrated children’s book, to a novella-length Sherlock Holmes mystery, and everything in between. I currently have three novels in the process as well as a whole host of other short stories and poems.

I’m close to completing a degree in Writing and Applied Arts and am scheduled to graduate with high honors and my BFA this Spring. I’m also a proud member of Sigma Tau Delta, an international English honor society for students in the top 30% of their class and a 3.5 GPA or higher.

I definitely have my preferred niches, but I’ve never met a writing challenge I couldn’t take, and I welcome any opportunity to further expand my horizons. My extensive vocabulary and unrelenting creativity are my greatest strengths, and I view the process of putting words together much the same way as an artist combines elements on a canvas.

Throughout my life, my true passion has been fiction; the more fantastic the better, but over the years I’ve found many inventive ways to add my characteristic creativity and diverse palate to even the most mundane topics.

Additionally, if you're looking for someone with a good bit of inside knowledge to help your audience learn about wild edibles, herbs or natural remedies, look no further! Not only did I learn a lot from my father who was an old forager himself, but back when I was in the military, I worked in a field that required me to attend both water and wilderness survival training. I've also received certifications as a 1st level Reiki practitioner and as a Journeyman Apothecary and would love the chance to collaborate with you to share that knowledge.

Take a look below to see some of the different genres/niches I’ve written in.

Fox Hunt

Shaking her newly dyed auburn curls, Mara squeezed her eyes shut, as if this would somehow help her put aside the sinking feeling in the pit of her stomach that always accompanied her before nights like this. Next, she pulled out the nearly empty glass jar of pale, beige lotion and began to apply it gingerly to the half dozen or so cuts, gashes and bruises around her back and abdomen that hadn’t yet healed, following her last assignment. It went on as smooth as satin and was expertly blended to match her nearly alabaster skin perfectly. Additionally, the maximum strength anesthetic mixed in...

Moon Shadows

Sunniva Riis was only eleven when she was discovered to have the gift. By thirteen, the Haze had veiled her eyes to the world of men, and she was forced to begin her official training as the next Solarei, a special classification of magi, chosen by the ruling Celestial Guardian to become a weapon against darkness and chaos. Now, at just sixteen she was the youngest of her kind, yet she waited calmly at the river’s edge for the Span to reveal itself, allowing passage across to Ratak’shi: one of the last sanctioned strongholds before the swirling corruption of the Felward. Always in her faith...

Villainy Through Misconception

What is this horrifying creature that has haunted man's dreams throughout the ages? Glowing eyes in the dark, snarls and blood-curdling howls, a demon from hell itself that will steal children from their beds and wipe out entire herds of livestock, just for the thrill of the kill! He is the stereotypical, "big bad wolf". This is what people tend to think of when they hear the word "wolf", yet realistically this is not the case at all. From a wise and powerful spirit symbol to a loving and ferocious protector, wolves are intensely social creatures, deeply dedicated to their pack and family, ...

Always Watching...

Halloween may be over and done with, but some stories are so chilling–so blood-curdling, that no celebration of monsters and miscreants are required to call upon the telling of such tales. Back in my college days, I was a bit naïve and far too concerned with opinions of others to always think before acting, and so I found myself alone, in the darkness of a moonless night, outside the ruined entryway of the old man’s home. “It has to be tonight!” they told me, [the girls from the sorority], as it was apparently the anniversary of an anniversary, if that makes any sense. And so there I sa...

Chimera - An Original Sherlock Holmes Mystery

During intermittent bouts of consciousness following his return, Holmes tried explaining to me that the record was incorrect, that there were clues—clues he alone had gleaned—but since they didn’t seem to connect cohesively with the missing animals, the authorities quickly grew impatient and abandoned the case, forcing him to pursue the truth on his own, one much more sinister than anyone could have imagined. “The clues were right there…” sputtered a weak voice from across the room catching me off guard, “as clear as mud, or… as red…” There were a few more incoherent vocalizations ...

The Multi-faceted World of Crystal Healing

While most cleansing and charging methods are interchangeable, there are other things you can do to give your worn out, overworked crystal new energy and a much needed power boost. Earth Since all crystals came from the earth, it makes sense that returning them there should help them reconnect and reabsorb that primal energy. Before jumping right in, please keep in mind that you shouldn’t just dig a hole, drop it in and cover it back up because you run a pretty high chance of losing it that way. Instead, find an earthenware jar or container that’s large enough for whatever you want to c...
