Biography
"Remember, Hope is a good thing, maybe the best of things, and no good thing ever dies." -Stephen King.
I'm Fred, and I've been writing for as long as I can remember. The Urban Writers chose me to join their team, and the honor is truly mine. Before The Urban Writers, I was working as a teacher, but I decided to follow my true passion for putting words on paper, and that it led me here is a blessing unto itself.
My story with writing begins in third grade, where I wrote a short story that earned me the "Best Author award" in the class. Since then, I pursued my relationship with the written word, causing me to graduate with two Bachelor's degrees, one in English, focusing on creative writing, and the other in Japanese Area studies. Both degrees required a considerable amount of research, writing, and understanding how to put forth my best writing voice. Now I run a freelance writing business, and I spend every day doing what I love: putting words to paper.
The one author I admire most is Stephen King. Not only is Mr. King the shining example of a horror novelist, but his protagonists and their internal struggles feel relatable and visceral. My favorite fiction book of his is Pet Sematary, which asks a question that no one should be able to answer. I've also read his autobiographical book, On Writing, which is the bedrock for my fiction writing process.
What attracted me to ghostwriting is writing itself. I could write anything from a simple blog post to a full-length novel and feel fulfilled in my work. For me, writing isn't a means to an end. It's the greatest passion of my life. When I write, I don't feel as though I'm working. I'm doing what I'm meant to do. I compare how I feel when I write to a pianist playing their masterpiece on a piano and enjoying every moment of it.
I understand that there is always more to learn about a passion and how well one can improve. I strive to make every writing piece better than my last and understand what works and what doesn't. Therefore, researching new topics and writing skills and identifying past mistakes is how I improve.
While I believe in my skills to write just about any topic, the following niches/genres I specialize in are:

Dark Fantasy in Berserk
The idea of dark fantasy is attributed to many sources, ranging from folktales to horror writers of the gothic age and famous writers such as H.P. Lovecraft and Edgar Allan Poe. However, one author that many don't consider or are aware of is the late Kentaro Miura, a Japanese Manga writer most famous for Berserk. Miura's approach to the dark fantasy genre beginning with Berserk's first chapter, published in 1989, redefined how many writers approached and saw dark fantasy. Miura created a world showcasing the best and worst of what humanity had to offer while creating beings and situatio...
Clock Tower's Influence on Survival Horror Video Games
Survival horror video games have come a long way since the days of classic gaming. Many attribute the rise of survival horror games to the PlayStation classics, Silent Hill and Resident Evil. While those titles brought the survival horror genre to the spotlight, Clock Tower was among the first titles to set the stage for future games to come. Clock Tower has a simple premise of Jennifer, a young girl trapped in a house who wants to escape. The game's primary monster, the Scissorman, accosts her through several large portions of the game. Unfortunately, Jennifer doesn't have the means to ...
