Biography
Nice to meet you! My name is Lisa. I'm The Urban Writers resident busy body. I've been a freelance writer since 2014 and have published over 100 pieces of fiction and non-fiction writing.
For me, writing is the rawest and most authentic expression of myself and my heritage. My parents are a novelist and an editor, so it's safe to say that writing is literally in my blood. I began my writing career at the tender age of nine when my poetry featured in "The Word Wizard – A Book of Verse from Young Canadians." Twenty years later, my portfolio now features multiple articles in Chatelaine, Cosmopolitan, and The Gateway; even more, I've expanded my repertoire to include various fantasy, romance, and young adult novels. In addition, I've launched multiple websites to host my beauty, fashion, home styling, and DIY home renovations blogs to fill my free time. For me, writing isn't another hobby - it's as essential to my existence as oxygen.
As for my credentials, I have won multiple awards and scholarships for my writing, including the Rutherford Award for Academic Excellence and the Aiken Award for English Language and Literature. I've pursued higher education and earned a Bachelor's Degree in English Language and Literature and my certification in Teaching English as a Second Language. In my free time, you can find me hiking through the Canadian Rockies, passing on the family tradition of tarot card reading, and digging into the latest romance, true crime, or fantasy novel that has found its way into my hands.

I began writing because I needed a release for all the stories inside my head but have followed that passion into a career that allows me to connect with others through storytelling. One of the many qualities that separate me from the average ghostwriter is the fact that I prioritize my relationship with my clients. Trusting another writer with your story is like trusting someone with your beating heart – and believe me, I do not take that lightly. When I take on a project, I commit to open communication, time management, and whatever creative process I must undergo to give you a product that meets your requirements. As you'll soon see, I approach everything in life with a positive attitude and a healthy sense of humor – you can trust that working with me is going to be a lot of fun!
