Writing professionally since 2017, and writing otherwise for a few decades longer.

Biography

Perry Goodwine's earliest essay was a primary school fiction about a pen who ultimately dies in the depths of a trash can. Since then, his writing has had remarkably less rubbish in it.

Although he has primarily worked with interactive fiction for games, Perry has also written short stories, novellas, screenplays, comic books, and other articles for more than a decade. Inspired to write fantasy as a teen by the wit of Terry Pratchett and the world-building of JRR Tolkien, Perry has now explored further genres like science fiction, adventure, mystery, horror, romance, and slice-of-life, and even dabbled in non-fiction in fields such as science & technology, sports, religion, and mythology.

When he's not writing or reading, Perry can be found playing games, making terrible puns, and mulling over ideas during long walks in the park.

How I'd describe my personality in two sentences

I have an open mind, even though people constantly come along and try to put stuff in it.
Other than that, I'm eccentric and easy-going, with an erratic sense of humor.

How I'd describe my approach to my work

I always place the wants of the customer first, and work accordingly. This includes changing my writing style or approach to plotting/structuring to suit their needs.
I like to break down my work into smaller tasks, and then work on them piece by piece. Regarding fiction, I'm more of a pantser than a plotter, in the sense that though I follow the plot outline, I always try to write events that make sense for my characters rather than force them to follow an overarching plot.
If I need to research a topic before writing on it, then I make sure to be thorough in my research. Every fact that I come across needs to be verified by multiple sources before I include it. If that's not possible, I try to indicate that there is room for doubt regarding the information.
My style is largely influenced by fantasy fiction writers, so I generally try to add some flair or descriptive flourishes to my writing where I can - that is, if left to my own devices. If the customer doesn't need or want such flourishes, then I won't add them.
I'm always receptive to feedback, both good and bad - in the end, what matters most is making sure the final book turns out great. So I'm always ready to make changes to my work where needed.

Why should you choose me for your project

You should choose me as a fiction writer if you need someone who can give you:
- comprehensive world-building
- fleshed out characters with motivations and actions that make sense
- vivid imagery and descriptions
- functional, succinct dialogue

You should choose me as a non-fiction writer if you need someone who can give you:
- clearly conveyed information
- thorough research and verification of the subject matter
- language that's easy to understand

And, of course, I will deliver everything you need on time, and readily change the text based on your needs and feedback.

Divine Retribution

Shanamon, the current avatar of the god of destruction, was nearing the end of his yoga session when they came. With a grunt of disapproval, he unfolded himself from the Padmasana pose and greeted his visitors. “Soryasu urgently seeks our help.” Inatar, avatar of justice, valiantly tried not to be distracted by Shanamon’s glistening form. “Is this about the Dyson Sphere?” Shanamon gestured to the living area with one hand while wiping himself with a towel with another. “They actually managed to complete the device?” “Complete it, test it, and then satisfactorily run it.” Gunyong, avatar ...

The Salad Bar

The Wooden Disk offered the best salad buffet in the mall. Which was probably why Kahan found himself being stubbornly dragged there by his girlfriend Nikita. “Hey, that savory pancake place we just passed had a lot of space…” he tried valiantly. “Kahan ‘Engine’ Ingchupathripatidiwan, you are not going to worm your way out of this – not even with pancakes!” Kahan couldn’t help smiling just a bit. Nikita was one of the few people outside his family who could get his full name right on the first try. He resumed his earlier look of despair when the façade of The Wooden Disk came into view. ...

The Whispering Willows

"So, these are the infamous Whispering Willows," Norbery commented as he followed behind Wanda. "I suppose those dryads you mentioned last night are the ones doing the whispering then?" "A decent chunk of it, yes," Wanda confirmed. Norbery sensed an unspoken line in there as well; if he had to guess, it probably went something like, those tree-hugging bums have nothing better to do apparently. "What do they whisper so much about, anyway?" Wanda snorted. "If you listen closely enough, you can actually make out some of the words. Assuming you can translate their language, that is. I wouldn...

Glass Wall

Timo couldn’t help but smile; his shift was nearly ending. He stretched his lean muscles in anticipation. If he was allowed to, he would have lit up a cigarette. “Yeah yeah, rub it in, why don’t you,” grumbled the stocky figure on his right, “Didn’t anyone tell you, you’re supposed to be fully suited up while on duty.” “Hey, I’ve got the important bits covered, haven’t I?” grinned Timo, tapping the Kevlar on his chest. “More like you’ve got the important bits uncovered,” grunted his colleague. Timo chuckled. “Since it’s you, Gogos, I’m going to allow your intense feelings of bitter jea...

The Fall of Terrotan

Rosalin connected telepathically with the alien again. “Kanu, please tell me more about your people.” “Of course! Nothing would give me greater pleasure.” Rosalin received a mental image of Kanu clearing his throat like a fussy lecturer. It brought a smile to her lips – where’d he picked up that little human eccentricity? “As you know, our kind can alter our physical traits to adapt to the environment. We had a variety of forms, depending on whether we lived on land or sea, in forests, plains, mountaintops, or underground. That’s why we could live on Terrotan even as the planet broke and...

The Greek Creation Myth

Every religion, and therefore every mythology, has their version of a creation myth. It is the attempt to answer one of the most difficult questions humanity has come across yet: “How did we get here?” Or, depending on the person doing the asking, “Who put us here, and what were they thinking?” Creation myths can often be as fanciful as they are erratic, for they deal with a turbulent time long before our existence, when nothing could be set in stone since stone itself was a flurry of elemental particles at their earliest stages of networking. Thanks to generations of scientific advancem...

Perry is an exceptional writer who can associate and build on a concept or subject matter with amazing accuracy. This ability to think outside the box aided in bringing the characters within the book to fruition. I would recommend him 100% on any project based on his work writing ability and ethics.

Perry did an AMAZING job! I didn't need to provide much guidance because he was so great. I would definitely work with him again! He made this so easy for me

Perry is a good person to consider for your project. Perry came on board with such enthusiasm and excitement for the story that it revived my original thrill when the idea first formed. Perry was able to express his own creativity and thoughts to the story. All were appreciated and I feel like he provided great value adds. Such as adding more varied characters and personality depth to the characters. I appreciate his patience with me as I did become a little slow at responding towards the conclusion of the project.

Very responsive and helpful with navigating the site. Also, very careful to be sure of what I was looking for and deliver a final product that matched the goal. Would use again.

Perry was a gift and quite literally saved my book. He knows what to ask for to make the story what was intended and is capable of changing styles to meet whatever the needs may be. I will be requesting Perry in the future to make more of my ideas into books!
